I recently got stuck on a very bumpy dirt road that had HEAPS of small bumps (felt like my car was going to fall apart). I stayed on this road for about 3 - 5min before i could get off.

I have a set of TEIN coilovers with spring rates of 14kg front 10kg rear.

My question is would have going on this road for the amount of time i was on it destroy or affect my coilovers at all????

i dont think it would. You would feel a difference if it did affect it in any way.

what was your damper set to??

If it was really hard it would have been a nightmare, but i think your suspension would have been ok.

It was just doing its job. Stiff suspension isn't always the most effective.

Its not going to destroy them.

But think about it. They are being worked more than if your on a smooth road.

Suspension is a worn and tear item so it won't "destroy" it but shorten the life of it

Shouldnt really effect them at all, unless they were bottoming out. Reguarding shorten the life of them, i doubt 3-5 minuits of hard work will effect the lifespan of them any more than 0.005%. Dont worry they'll be fine!

Also, most coils can be re-gased later when its bottomed out I guess~

i hope not. Hume hwy kills my car. Might need softer springs.

Bottoming out the shock damages the internal piston, and pretty much all shocks are oil filled not gas filled dampers. Replacing the medimum in which the piston acts would not really fix anything.

with spring rates that heavy i wouldnt be suprised to see ur chassis getting banged around alot more than usual.

i dont see how they can get destroyed, probably see signs of it getting worn out quicker than usual. but if your trippin over stuff like just take them off and stop crying like a baby.

*agrees* - with that rates front n rear you are transferring the shock into teh car body and loosening all the internals. Creaks , rattles and bumps will plague you on bumpy roads :)

Everyone seems to think its crazy ass stiff.
But its not as bad as you think.

And about creaks and rattles. (Im yet to hear anything less than normal especially with a DC2R that has close to no sound deadening)
