Disclaimer: The following is provided as a GUIDE ONLY, and neither myself nor Ozhonda take any responsibility for the outcomes of someone else doing the following. You follow these steps at your own risk!
Aim:
Install neon’s under the seats/dash board, boot, and front bumper
Required:
Screw drivers, Duct tape, neon’s, lighter, scissor,
http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/6104/cimg0918hn2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Steps:
cut all the wires and strip them.
http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/8946/cimg0920eo5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
boot:
measure the neon’s length and drill 2holes on the parcel shelf, run the plastic ties thingies though the holes to secure the neon. And then run the neon’s wire to the front under the dash with your sub/amp wires.
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/3159/cimg0932jr4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
under seats:
first find a spot you want the neon to be under the seats. Put/peal the double sided tape on each end of the neon, and then just stick it on.
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/4227/cimg0924mg8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/6703/cimg0926hy3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
and then run the wires via your center console to the front, if u cant get it in try use a pen/screw driver to help u
http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/1452/cimg0921jx0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
under dash:
Find a secure spot so you can use the plastic tie thingies to hold the neon’s under the dash.
http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/4695/cimg0929la2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Front grill:
With this one make sure your neon is water proof be4 you install it, also you might want to give the radiator a clean/wipe as well.
Same as all others find a spot for the neon to settle, tight it down with the plastic ties and you can also use double sided tape to help you secure it. Run the wire up to you bonnet and around the side (make sure it’s away from the engine belt or anything that may get HOT during driving) up to the battery and then put it though the fire wall along with your sub wires.
http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/1003/cimg0936fk7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/927/cimg0950ez0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Connect:
By now you should have all the wires from 6neons sitting under the dash ready to b connected/. Twist them together +ve with +ve, -ve with –ve and leave it there for a moment.
Run an extra wire from the front to the boot (again along with your sub wires). When the wires get there remove/lift up the plastic pieces to allow the wires to go under/though to be connect to the boot light. Be4 u touch it, turn the switch/light off. The use sodium iron to connect the wires and then pop the light back in., and leave the switch.
http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/293/cimg0930mu4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/7241/cimg0931lk0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Back to the front, now u should hav the extra wire from the back and all other wires from the neon’s there. Connect them together by using a clip or duct tape.
When you’re done. Double check everything be4 your turn the switch on the boot light on. Once it’s on the neon’s should light up... if not then…. Read the Disclaimer on the top of the page :/

Other comments:
-If some how the 2wires (+ve & -ve) came in contract, and the light don’t work any more, no need to panic you probably just blown the fuse. Go open your bonnet and change the interior light fuse (7.5) in the fuse box if it’s broken.
-I don’t know about other cars but in mine the boot light comes on as well when the door opens. If yours doesn’t then you have to connect the neon’s to the interior light wires under the dash some where :/
-if you don’t trust the wiring afterwards then go buy a fire extinguisher and keep it in the car

Its a soldering iron. Not a sodium iron. lol
Did you use any electrical tape or anything to insulate the wiring??

i was gunna do the exact same thing in my boot with the the neons i had lying around my garage and wire them up to the boot light, but when i got to them, they had both cracked :( oh well. my other problem was making it so i could still remove the parcel shelf. did u do some sort or connection there to unclip the neon to remove the tray? i was gunna use some male/female electrical plugs

hey m3ntAL_l2,
just have a few questions...
could you type up how you did the wiring or maybe even draw a diagram of the wiring for the neon in your boot to your boot light..?

nah jk... its really easy. u know where the bulb sits, take it out & those metal plates on each end thats holding it, well just tap the -ve and +ve of the neon on to the outside of it, so it wont be in the way for the trunk bulb to go back in. and DING its done
how do you wire the ones under the dash up? i want to do something like this aswell. and are yours constantly on?

how do you wire the ones under the dash up? i want to do something like this aswell. and are yours constantly on?
the lights under dash, under front bumper, under seats, under side skirts & in door pockets are all tied together under dash, so u r left with 1 bundle of positive wires and 1 bundle of negativewires. (with ends twisted together.
the ends can be terminated with bullet connectors (preferrable)
wire is then run from this bundle under the dash to the boot light.
wires from under rear bumper and anywhere else in rear half of car are also bundled and brought up to the boot light.
solder all + wires to + side of boot light terminal
solder all - wires to - side of boot light terminal
(if unsure use digital multimeter to find out which is which)
considering all lights/neons/Led's are hence in "parellel" not in "series" it should not have extra draw in the voltage and blow ur fuse.
only problem that i see with this method is that all neons/leds (whateva) will only light when u open the car door (if ur boot light comes on when u do this), or when u turn the interior dome light to the "on" position.
you cannot activate them while driving (illegal - i know) or if u do it can be hard to turn off quickly if needed if interior dome light is centre of roof ie behind u.
I bundled all wires behind dash, had a switch in dash, and cut the wire between boot light and the fuse terminated wire there (reconnecting original wire aswell) ran that to the switch, and then down to the + bundle of wires from the neons. "-" wires from neons just terminated in a "O" ring connector which i put around a bolt that screwed into chassis.
will upload pix if ppl cannot understand.

u can have l.e.d.s all over your car, but u can only use them when the car is parked for "entertainment purposes" using led's or neons whilst driving is illegal is it is distracting for other drivers. no matter where the leds are placed, in or out of the car

depends on how and where u hook it up (where u get the power from)

can you actually take out the wire from behind the cig socket in parallel and put a switch in?
Simmo2302
26-06-2007, 05:59 AM
yea dont see y not.
cut wire about 1 or 2 " back from cig socket, tie in red wire and hook back up ( so cig work again) take red wire to + on switch, run black wire from switch to a earth point (if switch needs one) run blue wire from last point of switch to + of L.E.D's. run - wire from L.E.D's to earth point.

Here is some shots of my set up, I stole supply for my interior lights from behind my cigerette lighter. This way they are on with accessories which means i can never leave them on to flatten my battery... lol.... something that i would probably do...
I have put three in my boot. One in each front foot well. One underneath the back seat to shine into the rear footwells. One in the small space where the cup holders are and one in each rear seat arm rest. All are hidden from site unless u really look for them, if u know wat i mean.
Boot: (wired into the original boot light)

try putting some in the door side pockets, looks great, place them on the side closest to you, so they reflect against the wall in the wall, so it doesnt shine in ur eyes, if u know what i mean.

anywhere that has power when the ignition is in the "on" position.
u can have it from the power source to a switch then to the neons, so they arent allway on when the power is active (ie ig u relay it from your headlights)
so u could go from the cigarette lighter to a switch to the neons.
or u could hook it straight up to the roof light (interior dome light) so whenever u open a door the neons come on.
just remember it is illegal to use em whilst the car is in motion, u can only use em when the car is parked for "entertainment purposes"
so u'll want it from a power source that only come on when the car is parked (when u open a door). otherwise if u hook it from something like, headlights, or dashlights, or straight from battery its best to have a switch.

If ur in victoria, and i know this because i get it all the time. Neons are not illegal on the car.
The rules are:
No red lights towards the front of the car
No white lights towards the rear.
No directly visible rods to the front or the rear of the car in a manner than could be regareded as dazzling.
I know this because i get pulled over all the time, for my blue parkers and red number plate lights learnt that its not worth the hassle so i took the parkers out and made them stock, red taglights are still in, only enough things wrong with the car for a minor defect at worse, and i have 34 sources of blue lights in and under the car...

another thing you can use instead of the double sided tape to stick under your car seats is valcro stripping. just cut the valcro stripping to the size of the double sided tape and use the spikey side of the valcro on the back of the neon (where your ment to put the double sided tape) and your done. the spikey side of the valcro should stick to: carpet car seat covers and just about anything fabric related.

thos ones look to be about 12"?
most common size is about 26cm or so
Simmo2302

i usually use about 300mm (12") if i can, but in places where u cant i use 200mm (8"). (internal setup)
underbody neons / leds usually come in 2 sizes, ones that will fit the front/ rear bar and ones that fit in between the wheel arches under your doors for the side of your car.
just plan where u want to put them and get a ruler, measuring tape etc and work out wat u need.
planning is essential for a good neon / led setup. also plan out how much wire u will need and wat exactly u need to take apart / remove to allow you to invisibly install your setup.
