Hi all, Just bought a EK hatch auto.

Few questions,
Does the shifter, console light up at night when you turn on the lights, it's the centre console where it goes from P-to R etc,
How do you replace, repair damage wipers so they are nice and black,
Where can i get close to new moldings for it, roof, doors, and front windscreen.
It shudders abit when it changes gear, is this normal for an old car?

Thanks all

Yes the console should light up when the lights are on.
At a Honda wrecker you can maybe get mouldings and new wipers, or just take the old ones off and paint them. (wipers that is).
Shudders in auto transmissions is not good, you can either drive it till it dies and hopefully find a good 2nd hand one to put in or get yours reconditioned now before you do more damage, it ain't cheap either way.

Yeah Mr rocafella the change is pretty rough on an auto Honda, I've only had one auto before, a Magna and it was a hell of a lot smoother.
Grim, Armoral the trims, rubber ect. comes up a treat, looks like they use a matt black on the wipers, just get 1 can of that should do the job.
No idea about the console light.

Hi All
I've just spoken to Honda Service about that Gear Selector console, and he goes it doesn't light up.

Hmms weird, but your one lights up. Who should i talk to about finding out to fix up the light.
I've checked the workshop manuals and it doesn't say how to fix this.

Where is the cheapest dealer to get a new Key Cut? In Sydney

thanks all

The should be a light around the gear selector.

As for getting a key cut, don't go to a dealership and they'd charge you and arm and a leg plus more. If you have a working key (ie that can start the car), give a few locksmiths a call. Some will be able to cut and program a new key for you. Cost me $75 to get mine done.

any matt black spray paint should do. just remember to take the rubber wippeers off b4 you paint it.

as for rubber moulds, ask a panel beater for prices.

EK automatic gearboxes are jerky, the problem is somewhat minimised with regular application of transmission fluids.

RyDC5S,
Do you mean by "regular application of transmission fluids" to change the fluid on a regular basis, ie: flush? How regularly would you do this? Is adding that nulon auto stuff going to do any good? TIA

the reason the newer honda autos are jerky.. is because they use CVT transmission (constantly variable transmission) http://auto.howstuffworks.com/cvt.htm

thanks for all the info guys.

1. I have fixed the light in the gear selector console, the guys at Penrith Honda/toyota helped me out, the globe is like 5 dollars and you need to take out the entire gear stick, console and plate. It was an good opportunity to clean out the gear console.
2. The window/door trim is $130 per trim, and most wreckers don't carry the item ahh bummer.
3. Changing the gear oil helped.

Thanks again everyone.
