I've noticed a fair bit of freeplay in my accelerator cable which requires me to push it down a bit before revs start to pick up.

So i'd like to try and adjust it to remove the freeplay and maybe regain full throttle (if it isn't getting it).

Can anyone help me out as to how much freeplay there should be and help on how to adjust it, i can see a bracket that the cable bolts on to with a bolt on either side which looks like the adjustment is this correct??????

You can adjust the cable tension , at the point which you described.
Its a matter of releasing the left nut , then moving the cable further right to tighten, THEN tightening up the right nut and then tightening up the left nut again.

A DIY with full explanation and pictures soon kids !

A DIY sounds great. thanks for the info it sounds easy enough.

all it matters is that on full throttle, your throttle body is completly opened up ,..
ahaha

you just adjust the 2 nuts on the cable.. at the throttle body area just before the rotator thingo..

I just cleaned my TB and had been noticing this "freeplay" as described and immediately identified the two cable tension nuts and guess what, out of all the spanners I found in my parents' and my neighbour's toolkits and spanner sets, the two I needed were missing! You just need open spanners or a small shifter to do this btw.
