EG Question

hey guys, im confused about the EG's...what's the difference between eg3, eg5 & eg6? is it engine wise or somethin'? :oops:

EG6 is the only one to consider. It was a 170bhp B16A powered Civic hatch that we never got. Its official designation is SiR/SiR II

Yep EG5 is the SOHC 1.6L VTEC engine D16Y in the VTi civics

ummno - eg5 is DOHC 1.6l NON-vtec D16A8...aussie spec of the zc.

Or known as the aussie delivered Si , in hatch and sedans...

The JDM lineup is that EG3-6 are hatchbacks where as EG7,8 and 9 are sedans. Sedan for this period also exists as EJ1,3 and EH1.

HBs
EG5,6 are B16A (1600 cc)
EG3 is D13B (1350 cc)
EG4 is D15B (1500 cc)

Sedans
EG7 is D13B (1350 cc)
EG8 is D15B (1500 cc)
EG9 is B16A (1600 cc)
EJ1,3 and EH1 are ZC (1600 cc)

ok, let me explain somthing, the EG5's came into australia in 1992-93 were Si, civics the ZC motor, from 93ish-95 i the EG5 became the VTi civic.

thats why you both know the EG5 as Si, and VTi.

EG5 IS the AUDM VTi.

not sure about the AUDM Si, could have the same chassis code though cause it has rear disks too.. the VTi replaced the Si

the VTi has sunroof standard - Si doesnt so i'd say they SHOULD have a different chassis code..

Being technically correct, the Si has the EQUIVALENT of the ZC, which is the D16A8. Only the Rover came with the ZC in Oz.

i have an EG5 WIHT A D16Y1 engine

does that make sense???????????

what does that mean???????

sum1 in a past topic said that the EG5 HAS A B16A and sum1 else said the EG5 HAS A NON VTEC DOHC ENGINE and sum1 else said IT HAS A SOHC VTEC...........i know its vtec because the rocker cover says VTEC onit and i can feel the vtec at high revs........

can sum1 help me with the total description to this plzzzzz

yeah i have a eg vti civic "eg5" and mine is a D16Y vtec....if u want to varify it look on your registration sticker or on one of the metal badges under the bonnet and they have a code and sumwhere through it it says D16Y or weatever engine it is..but yeah u would have a D16Y aswell

well there are international chassis designations, and other differences like engine bay (type of motor), sunroof or not, hatch/sedan/coupe...

EG5 = AUSDM VTi SOHC VTEC
EG6 = JDM SiR DOHC VTEC
EG8 = 4-door sedan SOHC
EG9 = 4-door sedan - DOHC ( i think )..

Sheesh, how hard is it to believe? It's like it's a myth or something. True it's rare to find one in oz, but think about it. Why would i make up such a thing?

Yeah well, they were imported way before the 15 year rule came about. plus it was imported privately, not through import dealers. ppl, keep to themselves about how they got the eg6, i still dunno all the details. plus, we like to keep everyone on their toes regarding our cars. hehe
