i just saw a advertising on japanese magazine, the spoon had new release ecu for cl7 with more then 25hp gain from it, can we also use it for our car cl9?

is this tuneable to suit our car by local tuning shop?

No because it doesn't support electronic throttle.

the hondata reflash will be better for our cars than this (if it was even possible to run it) - interesting tho!

Personally I'm more excited about the number of tuneable ecu options coming onto the market... EFI, Autronic etc.

Been a long time coming

Hondata is right in front of our very eyes!! Only if they don't keep delaying the launch..

hahaha damn you must really love your jap products!

btw, Australia makes some of the best ecu's in the world.

Motec and Autronic are used around the world for a reason :D

We're living in the land of aftermarket ECU's, forget the JDM ECU's :)
Maaaaaaate

Well looks like only JDM stuff floats TypeG's boat lol. Just look at all his mods, 100% JDM

kind of dont trust them....
also i just cant see the point of getting ECU without internal mod

You may have some point there, mate. But K series flow is much better than B series flow even after serious port polished on B's series and K series does have vtc. K series respond well to modification better than any previous honda engine for 4 cyclinder. About ecus, Japanese, themselves are using imported ecus.

if a hondata reflash can increase power by 25kw+ atw then a tunable ecu will be able to do even more. Say you spend $3000 all up for install and tuned for something like autronic or efi (rough numbers they may cost more) and gain 30kw it makes pretty good 'bang for the buck' sense.

as for trust... I'd rather fly in a plane with a motec ecu then a spoon one lol

for $3k... pay a bit more for supercharge or turbo will give u more power assume u really need those extra kw on track or street.

i do trust spoon instead since it is for the car itself and everything is ready to go.

Just me =)

yea but you still need engine management so the cost of the turbo is additional to the $3k for an ecu.

maybe if they made an ecu for the cl9?

I know i wouldn't run a cl7 ecu on a k24  would run like crap I would think.

e-manage should be able to control turbo conversation as i saw a lot of ppl did that.

sigh.... no ecu for CL9 and i dont think there will be as the new F-COn IS wont suit CL9 as well

we are FORCED to use AUDM ecu

not sure how well e-manage works with the cl9? isn't it just a piggy back?

also don't forget that with a tunable ecu the tuner is just as important if not more important than the ecu itself. If the car is being tuned in Australia then having an Australian tuner tune an Australian product they are highly familiar with is a better option.

see where I'm coming from? there are some great products from japan but they aren't always the best option

Won't work as the CL7 ECU expects a cabled throttle, while the K24a's is electronic.

Piggyback. Yuck.

What is wrong with an aussie-developed programmable ECU?

The best ECU's in the world come from Australia. So what, pray tell is wrong with AUDM?

Passing by superior hardware just because you want JDM is not too smart.....

Just get the AUDM one, and stick a HKS/Apexi/Greddy sticker on it.

nah, I just don't want to see people make the wrong choice...
at least, consider the JDM alternatives, i.e. don't write them off because they're australian

Actually, it's not an AUDM vs JDM thing. But among all the ECUs that you listed, the JDMs are piggybacks while the AUDM ones are full programmable. And I say no to piggybacks. Especially since the Euro's ECU is a self-optimising one.

hehe yea i know - was reffering to the fuel maps etc. if you converted to a cable throttle and were willing to lose the dash, vsa etc. you could use it but it'd run like shit anyway, defeating the purpose.
