Lights not working

Well went to pick up something just then and my cabin lights werent working.. i think thats what they were called.. basically every single light on the inside of my car.. all the outside lights were working fine...

it was kinda scary driving without knowing speed but yeah! this has happened before and it kinda flicked on for a bit then again plunged me back into darkness but what could be wrong?

not enough power? loose wiring?

if the fuse blew woudlnt it mean the power would be totally cut out.. but my lights turned on and off... mainly off but even stayed off for 20 seconds?

so it flickers on and off? always? or did it just flicker on the once and now it doesnt work?

you haven't played around with any wiring or anything recently?
my mate took his handsfree kit out of his car (just cut the wiring and ripped it out) and a day later his dash lights weren't working, one of the other wires was like grounding where it shouldnt or something. cant remember exactly

Wait, so they're working intermittently?

What else is happening in the car at the time? Like is it running, turned off, acc on, radio on/off, doors being opened/closed? Or is it just turning the lights on and off by itself with nothing being changed?

sometimes a fuse, when blown, can still make light/enough contact.
hahahaha, rare, but sometimes.

ill describe whole trip

1- turned on car.. fan was on all doors were closed
2- lights in cabin was NOT working.. thought wat the hell ill go neway
3- 5 minute drive to werefa i was going was mainly off but flicked on for 1-2 seconds max
4- stopped at frends house lights flickered on.. stayed on but everynow and then would flicker off
5- started again and it didnt work.. flickered on every now and then for 1 second until i got home and wen i stopped it still didnt work

check the fuse anyways, check the plugs behing the cluster.
or it could be your lighter dimmer switch failing, or your light indicator stalk.
i dunnoes.
jsut throwing ideas.

If it's flickering while driving (i.e. going over bumps etc) it sounds like a wiring connection somewhere is just a little loose and jiggling while you drive.

Could be power, a ground, or just a plug somewhere.

But check the fuses too. It never takes long and it might be a quick fix.

And are you saying that the lights out are:
Dome light on the roof, speedo lighting, climate control lighting, and the map lights?

speedo lighting, climate control lighting, and the map lights arent.. even though im not sure wat map lights are.. but yeah probably not working

dome light is working..

i go other smooth ground and it flickers...

umm, map lights are the ones in between the sun visors up the front that you can turn on and off manually. For reading maps etc :P

On my da, the climate control, speedo and rear licence plate lights went out and it was just a fuse. As mentioned before could also be the dimmer switch.

And possible. something to do with the wiring between the headlight switch and the lights' relay....at a long shot.
The previous suggestions are much more likely, though.

Well even though i dont know wat a blown fuse looks like i don't think thats it as the same fuze numbered ehh 15 or sumtin powers my clock and ciggy lighter and those lights works! soo that cant be it!
i guess ill hafta check the plugs behind my cluster? how would i get to them?


oh btw ive been playing around with my sub wires would that have anything to do with it.. i turned them off wen i was testing my lights but they still dint turn on
