I am wanting to upgrade from my 97 corolla seca...
Now i would like a car with a decent motor so that i can turbo or supercharge it. I would also like it to have reasonable room (esp boot space so that my subs don't take up all the boot space... heheh)
Models i am considering:
- EK Civic Sedan (don't like the hatch, too small) (D16 i believe? these respond reasonable to boost i believe?)
- Civic Coupe (do any of these have the DOHC VTEC?)
- Accord? (to get manual i'd have to go 4cyl, and i am unsure how these go with boost)
- Integra
- Prelude
Now i am looking to spend around $10000-14000 on the car + money for the performance parts at a later stage...

Look for the EM1 Civic Coupe, they have DOHC VTEC.
Check the forced induction threads to check turbo Civic projects.
you can buy a sohc vtec sedan for that price.
You wont find a vti-r coupe and hard to find newer vtec preludes or integras for 10-14k unless you look at earlier models.

Stick with those that have a cabled throttle. Then you have a wider range of aftermarket ECUs that you can use.

I suggest just EM1 for 2door coupe, or if you want 4door just grab EK sedan.. engine vtir should be fine :D

Go for a B-Series engine since the D-Series are somewhat weaker internally.
An H22A engined Accord would be decent. Not sure how much they go for though.

Hate to be the party pooper, but if you want a turbo, get a Nissan.
I own a CRX SiR - just in case you aren't aware, only fools or enthusiasts waste their money on this model. So my point is, I love Honda, but my advice remains the most logical suggestion in my mind.
Good luck.

Ok,
EM1 being a VTI-R Coupe (96-00 model)?
DC2 being a Integra?
An H22A engined Accords, these are only in the older accords correct? which most are high K's I want something with around 100,000ks max (maybe a bit more but not much)
sendok: what do you mean by just grab a EK then you said something about the VTIR?
Another thought i had... now i got no idea about this one, probably a stupid question but it may be feasible... Is it possible to convert the V6 Accords to manual? If so what gear box would you use would the 4Cyl accord gearbox be ok?)

EM1 = Coupe VTi-R
DC2 = Integra
So your right :)
The H22A Accords are Pre 96' I think, correct me if I'm wrong there :p
It is feasible to convert them, a friend of mine is doing it :p But no clue what GBox he's using, I'll ask him hahaha

Another thought i had, was to go for a cheap Accord (newer one with High K's, aslong as the body is in good condition) and then get a H22a or K20 or another one of the bigger newer DOHC VTEC motors and do an engine swap...
I saw a EH Civic Sedan with a K20 on carsales... and apparently it ran a 13.6 pre-tune and was expected to run 12s after a tune... That sounds very nice to me... thats that sort of times i want to be able to get... how much heavier is the accord than the civic? (ie what sort of times could i expect with a accord with the k20?)
Another thing... what is the 2.3L in the accords like? (because i can get a HONDA ACCORD MY2001 VTi-L with around 100,000ks for about $14,000)

2.3 VTi-L has about 110 kw, and hasnt been really turbo'd before.
If you wanna know more about that model accord, pm SiReal he has one.

I saw a Accord VTi today, and it reignited me desire for a Honda :D
Anyway so i been looking on carsales.com.au again... i found the alot of the VTi's are 2.2L Auto. Is that the H22a? The H22a is DOHC VTEC right? what power and torque does it make?
I would prefer the V6 though... because of the torque (which i lust for :P) but i also want manual... how hard would it be and what gearbox would be required to convert a V6 Accord to manual? The V6's are SOHC VTEC right? and what power and torque do these make? What motor is it (name)?
Anyone have any ideas what 1/4 miles the H22 Accords, and the V6 Accords run?

hint: dont get too bogged down with engine capacities like you may do with other car brands! hondas are very efficient and make make good power/weight. a light car like an EG with a B18C will pull hard!
and no offence but g/l finding a 12s car for $14k

no no no... i never said i was expecting to get a 12s car for $14k... I said it would be nice...
I am hoping to get a 14-low 15s car for $14k... (or easily capable through bolt on mods (intake, exhaust or/and forced induction))
No i don't want a VL... to old and they are a bogan's car hehe (no offence to anyone)
I am wanting a medium sized car (ie accord) that is nice and refined and comfortable and good looking and has a pretty good motor, so that i do have the option of supercharging it with a kit built by my good mate who owns Raptor Superchargers (www.raptorsc.com.au) :)
I don't want a camry (even though i really like toyota) - too boring, i don't want a magna - its mitsubishi... (that says enough :P), i don't want a falcodore - bigger than i want, and too common... So that leaves me with the Accord (Cause i like honda too :D)

You won't find a factory H22a Accord in Australia. The one you found has an F22b, good for 107kW.

VLs are fcuking HAWTTTT DAWGGGg ... i would probably get one if it wasnt for my nosey parents always critising what i get with MY money. always yap yap yap
like an accord v6 luxry is about 10k - 14k and the vtis is 10k too...... thats just ****ing stupid, what pisses me off is that some honda drivers are so ***ed in the head and place their cars up for so much and thene expect someone to pay for a car that is gona shit itself pretty much sooner or later
sorry mite got abit overboard there

Hmm, ok i been doing some google-ing... and from what i see it doesn't sound like the J30A1 in the accord is actually lacking in torque down low? and that the auto transmission is weak as... :( the J30A4 (in the 7th Gen)'s has no headers (well they are part of the head), so that only option would be supercharged (which is not such a bad thing as i have my mate at Raptor SC)... Can anyone comment on this? or give me any more info?
So i am thinking maybe the F22 or F23 might be better... then i'll be able to get manual. And i have seen quite a few turbo kits for them...
I want a medium car, but i also want a bit of go... finding a car to do that seems to be soo hard to find :(
