Hey guys

My K&N filter in my Civic06 FD1 (1.8L) is having problems... when I first put it in, the thing made this weird loud noise.. like static a bit (I thought it was my speakers) but more like.. the noise when you have a piece of plastic on a new air conditioner unit in your house and as the wind blows, the plastic flaps around but very loudly?

Anyway, it's been a while now... and that noise started popping up. By a while, I mean it's been about 2000km since I put in a brand new K&N (which said it came factory pre-oiled). Is there anything I should check or do? Does it need re-oiling already? Or is it possible for the filter to not be in place properly?

*shrugs*

Thanks guys

id be checking to see if ur lower air horn hasnt sucked up leaves or anything which might be making the noise.
air filters dont make static like noises its more of a humble but even that isnt that noticable.

What differences have you found powerwise/economywise from fitting a K&N? Am thinking of getting one but not sure if it's worth the money.

Hmm.. i noticed the noise only occurs on flat roads/uphill when accelerating.. but on a downhill, even if accelerating, it makes no noise. *shrugs* It's an on/off thing... wasn't happening in the morning, but came back in the arvo.

I tried opening up the filter box... (it's a drop-in) and then putting it back on (just in case the lid wasn't latched on properly), but there aren't any screws holding it in...?

*fingers crossed*

Btw performance-wise, I don't think it's that much different... but it sounds a bit nicer on the Civic, and the engine feels a bit smoother when I accelerate compared to before where there was a slight slight lag between put foot down, and accelerating.
