hey guys i want to buy a vtec controler for my honda integra dc5, its not a type r.

which controlers do you guys have and what would you recommend.
i was looking at either of these
Apexi AFC NEO 401-A917
or a apexi VAFC 2

thanks for your help!:thumbsup:

I would buy neither. If your car is reasonably close to xstock the gains you will get are minimal if any at all.

You would be better off looking at something like a hondata or another ecu as the opportunity for tuning includes everything your vtec controller will do plus more.

Unless of course you want the bling/rice look in which case get the vafc-II.

not too worried about the look, just want a good performer
only mod i have is a airfilter, but will be getting some extractors aswell.

then there is probably very little point in getting this for your next mod....

I would recommend extractors, then a catback and hi-flow cat would be ideal.

As i said you will get little to no gains on a stock engine with a vtec controller.

get all your mods up first. Exhaust, C.A.I, Manifold and high flow cat! and get any power gain modifcation first. and the next step is engine management to maximize the effect of your mods.

usually you gain 10 hp more on Vtec controller ontop of the mods you have ie. exh, cai, mani, cat

good luck

thanks for the input guys
on a side note, how would i get the vtec sounding loud and real crips, as iv heard on some other integras/crx's.

maby extractors and highflow cat?

More aggressive cams. Don't bother with the Neo or VAFCII. Get all your mods set up and stuff, then go K-pro.

neither fit... as the B series is differant to the K

Vtec yo is @ 4200-4400rpm on the B18C2

If anything, I'd make it higher. Annoying having it so low.

A good Vtec controller is YOUR RIGHT FOOT.

You don't need vtec. Just use more aggressive cams. Your low RPM drivability will suffer, but up top it will sound like the K20A2. VTEC doesn't make the power nor the sound. It is the cams, breathing, exhaust and ECU.

apart from that, id be interested in how u go aswell, i was thinkin apexi neo, but that doesnt work with ivtec
Apexi Neo works the same as VAFCII on your engine.

but it cant control ivtec
read the apexi website, it will control everything that the vafc and safc do in alot more detail but it cant control the ivtec setpoint

I know someone with the Neo in his k24a accord. And his vtec point has been changed to 5400rpm.

SETTING MODE-
* Air map
* Air map graph
* Throttle point
* Deceleration air
* VTEC control
* VTEC unmatch

There it is! It controls VTEC!

No Vtec Controller, It Is A Waste Of Time And A Waste Of Your Money. You Might As Well Get Two Hundred Bucks And Burn It In A Fire Rather Than Get A Vtec Controller. If Your Car Is Stock Its At The Optimum Point. There Is No Need For One And Just Because There's A Product There That You Can Use To Adjust Vtec Does Not Mean That You Should Be Using It.

For the record, I do not like interceptors.

"Not compatible with i-VTEC"
dc5 and euro use i-vtec not vtec...

Well, we have one installed in an Euro here in Sydney and his VTEC point changes. Also, with i-VTEC, the VTEC point changes slightly depending on your throttle position, just by a little bit. What the NEO did was to override the ECU's selected vtec point (varied between 6000-6200rpm) and it chose 5400rpm instead.

i-VTEC works the same as VTEC except that it has VTC. With VAFCII and NEO, both can't control VTC.

And here are 2 different owners with the Neo in their Euro. :)

Apex Neo can control iVtec prusso......get urself one and try it.....

There is no point putting either VAFCII or the NEO.....you may be lucky to gain 5kw on wheel but most likely you are going to stuff up ur engine in the same time...unless you get a ECU tuner tune it for you.....that cost you $150/hr.....and the most you can get maybe 10kw if you have all the basic I/H/E....I dun see a point to buy the piggy bag bling stuff.......
