That model doesn't use a separate crossover u should have a cable with a passive cross over to connect to the tweeters judging by what i have read on them it should just be a cable with a lump in the middle of it. You could use a crossover from another model of jbl or another brand even just need a 2 way cross over.

Could be a crap head unit.
Get a new H/U then get an Amplifer. :]

I know this may sound stupid, but is there any chance that you use the tweeter wires for the woofer and vice versa? another possibility is that your headunit doesnt have enough power to run the new splits...

nopee i used the wires wif the lil lump to go from woofer to tweeter, so i guess most likely its my h/u? its only 52 x 4

iv checked the negative nd the positive on the speaker but wat do you mean by short?

coz sometime if the wire short somewhere means the load reading 0 ohm so when you turn up the volume its gonna be distorted

lol im not sure how to check that..? any tips?

disconnect from the H/U then measure the impedance of the speaker with multi meter it should be reading 4 ohms if short it will read 0 ohm

you said you r headunit puts out 4x52watts. not so ;)

thats max. in reality, its probably only giving out around 15watt rms. this isnt much at all. go and buy a small amp, around 50wrmsx2, it will make a huuge difference.

just answering your original question. Yes you can use a different crossover however it will not sound the same as the crossovers that are equiped for the model. This is due to the fact that different companies have different banwidths. i.e the crossover may have a high pass filter set at 7khz-20khz and low pass at 1.5Khz-7KHz where the speaker may have completly different ratings altogether.
