View Full Version : welding holes
hey guys long story short, I have holes in both my front and rear doors on both sides of the car. These were left after my moulding was removed after an accident. I was just wondering how much would it cost in welding these holes up? Costly? And would the whole doors need to be repainted or just the areas welded? Just inquiring cause Honda quoted me $250 a side to replace the moudling...

Just get some moldings off a wreck?
Nah wouldnt be worth it, the clips on the moulding snap when you pull it off, you have to get into the door take it apart then push them out from the inside, then I'll have to spend more money getting them colour coded, easier for me to weld doors, thats if its cheaper..

Question? Are the mouldings set in to the door. ie, does the door panel step in to accomodate the moulding?
To do a proper 100% perfect job, weld up holes and repaint whole door.
To do an adequate job, bog up the holes, tape up and cover the rest of the door and paint only steped in strip where the moulding was. The transition line from New paint to Old paint will be visually masked by the step.

well $250 isn't too bad.
i'm a welder by trade, and labor isn't cheap. plus the add on of having to rub back the door and resprayin it. i'd just give it too honda. sound like a good deal.
the only way u could do it cheaper is probably doing it urself. just hire a welding machine, weld it, panel beat it etc, then give the doors to sumone to paint.
