is it possible

As is - no it is not possible.

With a "soldered" or piggy back added / connected , then yes you CAN tune it.

^^ As what Ben said.

The reason is that the stock ECU's map can't be replace. It's hard coded. When you solder on stuff like the Hondata S100, it allows you to upload custom maps into the S100 memory and use that instead of the stock map.

So is it a lack of 'storage space' on the stock ecu?

It's not a lack of storage space. ECU maps are hardcoded. It's like "write once, read many" memory. Like a CD-ROM. The S100 is flash memory, which is "write many, read many" memory, like a thumbdrive.

The difference is that stock is a RROM and Hondata s a EPROM

piggy back system is like a add on chip to your ecu .. so u can tune it and so.

Piggyback or interceptors? Those like VAFCii, SAFC, Neo are interceptors. They trick your ecu into thinking whether there is more or less air (like the ebay resistor power chips), and fake a VTEC signal too (for altering VTEC point).

so basically they are saying no you can not retune your stock standard ecu as the maps in the ecu cannot be overwritten. As already stated the standard ecu is ROM (read only memory):p

(ok guys i have a 2000 civic si with intake headers test pipe and exhaust spoon tb 1996 itr ecu and i want my car to blow black smoke when i gun it ! how do i do this ? i need to know plzzzz !!!!!)

BTW its not me!

put a squid in ur exhaust no need for smoke

Is this a serious question? It's because it has a test pipe, so unburnt hydrocarbons are not bound by the cat. Excess goes out as black smoke, common on most B series when gunning it.

why do places like utratune charge an arm if they cant actually tune the ecu. All they are doing is adjusting timing and resetting the ecu. Seems like a rort to me.

and idle lol. not sure people without a mechanical knowledge get sucked in and as a result they make money which keeps them running

I tried to install the ebay powerchip to ma EG but I couldn get it done anyhow. Is this really effective or jus bullcrap? Has anyone use it?
