Hi ..

if a an ECU e.g. Mircotech LT10s has a base map of a B16A already semi-tuned (was tuned twice but not completely finished) for a forced induction setup be EASILY re-tuned to a B16A N/A with minor mods?

Does the current mapping need to be re-set back to microtech mapping?

Or can the current mapping be de-tuned to map a standard B16A N/a ?

how hard will it be for the tuners to do e.g. time, effort?

or how much (should i say) roughly will it cost?

Thanks guys! ;)

need a whole retune ... including base map

so when the tuners say $500 for couple of hours, does this mean going back to base map and then tune from scratch?

anyone else who has any info?

where are the ECU pros?

Its hard to comment without seeing your tune, but any of my tunes would easily run a lightly modified b16a with my b16a turbo maps from a microtech.

To give you some understanding putting this in laymen terms (better rep me for this :P) the map of a tuned turbo car will cover all the pressures v rpm up to and including the highest boost you set it too, ie if tuned to 6 psi, atmospheric all the way to boosted air up to 6 psi will be tuned.

So the only problem you may find for your particular question is yes it "may" but this really depends on if your "light NA" mods are too aggressive or not from the fuel requirements of the atmo parts tuned.

If it were one of my tunes, Id have no problem with you running it on a lightly modified NA car.

the main question is ...could i run this ECU on my B16A with CAI, DC2R extractors, 2.1/4 exhaust with 2.5inch CAT, DC2R Lightened flywheel, 400hp fuel pump ??? considering that the Microtech was semi tuned for a forced induction B16A suppose to provide over 400hp?

probably not... injector sizing is the first issue, then fuel pressure..

IF the injectors and Fuel Pressure Regulator are STANDARD and the microtech was tuned for these 2 standard items, then you will be ok. If it was tuned for larger injectors and/or FPR, then you must retune.

Just to be clear, I dont recommend that you just wire it in and run it, you really should get it onto a dyno to check the AF output of the tune. Think about it this way, you would rather spend money making power than spend money fixing a blown motor or problems... :)

You will need it retuned to suit your setup,if this was Jordon's old ECU he would have been running bigger injectors and the fuel pressure would have been raised as others in this thread have told you.As far as base map you will not need one just a complete retune a base map would only be needed if you where converting the ECU to another engine type and ignition configuration.
