hey everyone,

i have realised that i change my oil very often, in less than 3 weeks i manged to drive 5000kms!

and i only drive from blacktown to castle hill and back everyday and on weekdays twice.. Not very long at long, like a 18 minute drive without traffic.

i goto pyrmont twice a week and back to blacktown.

Its showing nearly 7000KMs in just 3 weeks. is that possible?

it seems like im changing oil every 3 weeks or at least once a month!

its crazy.

any thoughts comments?

thanks in advanced

put it like this, i drove for approx, 3.5-4 hours, sraight, constantly, with only hour of that being freeway driving, and i racked up, approx, 300ish kms.

Are you sure you are reading the odometer correctly?

The last digit is sometimes 1/10th of a KM and a different colour.

Like in this pic, the White number is 1/10th of a km

Perhaps you are driving 500km in 3 weeks, not 5000km.

what car u drive?

possibly ur VSS (vehicle speed sensor) is ****ed! do u get any CEL codes on your cluster lighting up?

or u could be reading it wrong as per Eurodude said.

if the k's are high and u seem to often change oil all the time, how is the fuel consumption?

is it the same as e.g. full tank = 450 k's? or is it less / more k's?

obviously if ur saying that your getting more k's then u should be using more fuel which doesnt last long....

so roughly are u spending $1000 in three weeks for fuel?

that doesnt seem right!! i only spend 40-50 on shell formula 1 (100 octane) per full tank and i get 450-500k's on crusing mode.

but VTEC mode i only get 350-400k's hardcore!! :p

If you head on the M4 westbound (just past Wallgrove Rd) there is a 5km 'Speedo Check' you can use.

Do you have non-standard wheels / tyres which may affect the rolling diameter?

You can also take it to a specialist to be professionally measured and calibrated.

you can never change the oil 'too often' hahaha

but yeah get out your calculator and the map and add up the miles and multiply by the number of trips you make and then presto you got your estimated milage.. sounds fishy tho

it would be good if the guy could reply to the questions we are asking on his own thread!

Maybe he is too embarrassed to acknowledge he was simply reading it incorrectly :p
