With a budget of 1k - 1.5k i'd personally recommend you get a good service to start with....that may take out a few hundred but it's worth it.
Then with the last 1k or so get yourself a nice cat-back exhaust and maybe some lowered springs.
I'd always make sure the car is healthy and realiable (hence the service) before you go spend all your hard earned cash on mods straight up.
Just my 2c.

Save your money in an interest bearing account and find out what you want and what its gonna cost first, then you can start emptying your wallet into the bottomless pit.
End of the day its what you like and its your money, don't let people convince you otherwise

thats exactly right, no point wasting money u truley worked for on doing up a car that is gunna break down on u. and since most eg's dont need a kit to look nice, i reckon u should just chuck on nice exhaust, then save up a bit more then get rims, then lower it. or as TF said, exhaust, then lower.

I second that. you could find a cheap set of rims + service + some cheap lowerd springs for 1.5k easily.

definately sound system, get a CD player at least, i cant drive without music, an average MP3 deck would cost u $200-$300. the rest invest in a CAI kit.
