ya i recommend u wait bro, cos i used to have the 9855R as well, the glidetouch is a pain to use, makes nagivating very difficult especially while driving thats why i sold it, but didnt go for the 2006 range cos the sound feature was out. I seen the features of the 2007 (cda-9887 top of the range) believe me its worth the wait unless u have the $$ to get the 9855R for the mean time.

Actually, I was choosing between the Alpine 9855R and Premier P880 PRS at the time and decided to go for the Premier purely because of the sound feature..

Looking at the quick spec you posted above, doesn't seem like I'll be switching to Alpine yet.

Here's a quick spec of the P880 PRS, will the new Alpine range be better?

* Dual (L/R) 16-Band Graphic EQ for unprecendented control
* Auto EQ easily creates a baseline equalization for your vehicle
* Auto Time Alignment adjusts for speaker placement and creates exceptional staging and imaging (6 ch just like the alpine)
* Burr-Brown DACs for the purest sound
* Hi-Volt (5V) Pre-Outs
* 3 Way crossover network (what's 6 position x-over means on the alpine?)

that alpine deck looks good, much improvement from their 06 line up which were quite average to use and cosmetics

It means you can buy an adaptor that will enable bluetooth conection with the headunit for hands free car use. But the bluetooth adaptors are $369. on top of the head unit.

a 9855R for $500 is a brilliant price...

The glidetouch is dreadful but its a very capable deck SQ wise
