a few days ago, a friend told me he activated his Mazda3 ECU. a cup of potential functions were activated which included average conumption. Just push two or three buttons at the same time, them restart the car. that's it.
 return to my question, anyone knows, can we do the same thing on the 06 civic ECU to activate all potential functions?
i read the civic handbook that only some civic modle have average consumption. i wondered that all civic ECU from honda should have the same functions but :honda: just activated some of them for different markets respectively.

I have no idea what you even mean by the term 'average consumption' let alone if it is on the ecu and how you 'activate' it.

I think he's referring to on some of the newer Mazdas by pushing certain buttons you can unlock extra information on the trip computer displays (e.g. avg fuel consumption, km remaining til empty, etc).

it would be good if we could..
tap the brake pedal 4 time and hit clutch twice with steering fully locked right..
It then will freee up 10kw with unlimted weapons.. hhheeh

I have heard toyotas having soemthing similiar with the handbrake..

But why would Mazda cripple the lower models? Maybe they are trying to make the more expensive models look better in an attempt to sell more :o
The thing is, if Mazda do that, they will lose customers to Honda and Toyota lol
Like most people really care if their car tells them average consumption or not...
Nice if it does... But if it doesn't you're still paying for the petrol one way or another

The Euro has this feature as well... Information via the aircon/radio display...
Search the American Civic forums.. If it can be done, they will have the answer...

quite a few manufacturers have it. mainly used for diagnostics. the monaro had it, u presed to buttons wen u were starting up n got digital revs, speedo, fuel remaining, fuel consumption (l/hr), air fuel ratio.. prolly others but i forget now... basically lets u see info that the cpu uses all the time but the manufacturer doesnt feel is necessary for the average driver
