WHOOOoooooooooooa! :honda: :honda: :honda:

Wooowaaaawiiiiwaaaaawoooooo :) :) :) :)

I am sunburnt, smell of fumes, and still have the buzz in my ears from this power called Vtec. Really, I am stoked !! This car is such a joy to drive, what have I been missing out on for the past few years.

It seems that I am thinking of any excuse just to go out and drive this thing! :D

Firstly the low areodynamic stance and sitting position is just so kewl, looking up at people on the road is quite a novelty. Hope they can still see me.

Engine makes an amazing sound, especially when Vtec kicks in. Raw energy or I should say N/A - Makes this a real drivers car!!

I must say that I am hooked by it's road handling ability, dynamics and rigidity. I am still scared to shift hard and it seems that the car want's more, I'm starving it from it's rights to breathe the way it should breathe.

The designer of this car should be worshipped, it's pure unbiased sex on wheels. I feel as I have finally appeared infront of women now, they actually look - And it's not just a look, it's a look of seaxual desire, want and need, now, right now in the front seet - hehehe nah maybe not like that :p

It's precise in every respect and the build quality is absolutley befitting of the Honda marque. Everything just fits together so perfectly even my ass on the tiny little seats.

Overlooking the steering wheel the endeless horizon and the HOOD - That's the endeless horizon, it's so long, flared wheel arches, absolute art work!!

I will be enjoying every minute of driving in this car and "The Power of Dreams" has become a reality !!

What were your first thoughts, experiences when you got your S2000?

Cheers,

Tom

Hey Hey,

Yeah, Hemry went, he invited me to come along.

These boys can sure drive, I could not keep up and thats not because of the car, it was my lack or experience. But boy the S2K is soo sharp around the corners, I was pushing it but it still had a lot more to go. They all had turbos but I managed to keep up on the straights. Awesome fun, won't be doing that very often though, want to keep my car looking new and in mint condition... hehe

In terms of mods nothing too much. Maybe next year get an exhaust and lower it with adjustable suspension, get some light weight rims and update the bumperbars. Purely asthetical for now.

Well, thats what I said for my last car and I ended up spending loads... hehe

S2000's are great and handle very well. I've driven one with the Mugen CAI and it sounds amazing for a 4 cylinder car. It just keeps revving as if there's no redline.

The only problems i have with them is the cramped interior (lack of leg and head room) and not enough power/torque for daily driving (below 4000-5000rpm). You really have to rev it hard to squeeze power from the engine.

Totally agree with you here.

My mate has an s2k and when i heard it i could not believe the note!! Even at low revs it sounds like a beast. In love with the sound :D . Gotta take my type r air box off now as well. Guessing the s2k would sound nicer with the stock air intake cause of bigger engine as apposed to the 1.8l ITR

I would have though that a simple thing as taking off the airbox reduces power. I've read in a magazine that as an experiiment with a few DC2Rs, removing the airbox on a dyno actually help the car lose a few kilowatts.

sleepyf1

Mines a daily and I love it. In fact, its better as a daily driver than a Z. The car is happy to just trott around like a civic. In fact it pulls better than a civic but can rev like bejezus when I want it to.

Also, I'm not a tall driver so the space isn't an issue. But it doesn't matter anyway because I always drive with the roof down. If you bought an S2000 for just the performance and not the convertible lifesyle change, you are missing out on the full S2000 experience.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SQUEEZE THE POWER FROM THEM!?!?!??! where do you come up with this crap? the car will move fine shifting at 2500rpm, although I usually change between 3-4krpm...the only place where the car doesn't move is below 2000rpm...with the short gearing the car rev's up so quickly anyway...

sleepyf1
11-04-2007, 01:12 PM
Don't know about you guys but I get excess vibration when i try to accelerate the car from below 1500rpm. But the car happily accelerates around town above this range shifting at a mere 3000rpm. The S2000s short gearing means it only falls a few hundred rpms during these shifts.

Its true that compared to other real sports cars, the S2000 has minimal torque. However claiming that the car is fustrating around town is completely false. Those people are used to revving around 1500rpm. They don't know how to use the S2000s torque band correctly.

What's with the rude, defensive comments from you guys? These are just my short term impressions after driving my mate's car for a weekend. I don't have one as a daily driver. I'm 180cm myself and i find the interior a bit cramped. Some might not, but that doesn't means what i'm saying has no truth to it.

I've driven quite a few different sports cars including the 350Z, RX-7, 06 Sti and Evo IX and in comparison i find that the s2000 really needs revs to build up power and torque. The engine just didn't feel that strong to me until I revved it close to 5000rpm. That's just my impression.

BTW, those insults are uncalled for. :thumbdwn:

The way I see it, if you're puttering around town, you don't need to be above 5k. If you need power, and you're faster than about 30km/h, there's always a gear that'll get you into vtec.

If you're racing, you've got 0-30km/h before you're in Vtec, and after that you shouldn't be out of vtec with your gear changes.

If you need power < 5k rpm, then you'll have to mod. If you want to stay NA, then it'll be either a stroker kit or ITB's, otherwise SC or Turbo (dunno about turbo lag though) if you're for FI.

As for the cramped interior, I think it's something you either get used to, or put up with if you daily drive.

WhiteAP1
12-04-2007, 03:02 PM
Have a little look into final drive ratios and swaps, u dont need a stroker kit or ITB's to fill in those tourque holes.

casey3353
12-04-2007, 04:09 PM
I know what you're saying about the final drive ratio, but doesn't following that route mean that you're just getting through those "low-torque" revs quicker?

BaSsMaXiMuS
13-04-2007, 07:33 AM
Hey you guys!! This is supposed to be a "First Impressions" thread.... what's with the technical jargon! hehehe

Nah, just joking... any bit of information is good information! - So then, changing the final drive ratio would be a cheaper option rather than stroking the engine capacity, I hear the MX5 final gear ratio is perfect?

casey3353
13-04-2007, 10:57 AM
Again, I think the final drive gear depends on what application you want it for.

stock is 4.11
AutoX, 4.77
Street racing w/ some highway driving, 4.56 (you're around 5k @ 100km/h for highway "cruising")
Then there's 4.44, which is a bit better than the stock ones.

I think the general concensus at s2ki forums is the ricks 4.56 final drive gear is the best "bang for buck" mod.

WhiteAP1
13-04-2007, 06:47 PM
I know what you're saying about the final drive ratio, but doesn't following that route mean that you're just getting through those "low-torque" revs quicker?

Exactly, with my 4.77's there almost non existant, it picks up in any gear. We dont have auto X here so im not sure about that. The consensus on S2ki is that a Final drive swap in general is the best NA bang for buck. The lower the ratio the bigger the bang. My revs @ 100km are just under 4k RPM, 4.56 would be even lower. 4.56 is probably a better ratio for the street but not as accessable as a MX5 4.44 or the Sportage 4.77. I've done alot of freeway driving and im in the city every day, i wouldnt want any other ratio than the 4.77.

And in regards to the MX5 4.44 most ppl find it pretty mild compared to the other options, its not a night and day difference like the others. Certainly not perfect IMO

White Ap1, approx how much was it to change your ratio?

There's a thread about it on here, IIRC it was just under $2k...good value compared to other stuff you can buy for the car!

I wouldn't bother with 4.44, Jko on these forums has it and his car is barely faster than mine in a straight line, if you want to change the final drive you'd be better off going for 4.77 etc.

i agree with sodaz, really gotta rev it out, to get somewhere.
or even for daily driving, it's okay, but would be better if there was more torque.
