a) 18' wheels on a jazz is silly, not only will it slow you down, noticeably, but it will give you significantly lower ride quality due to the low profile tyres you'll need

b) dream on if you think youre going to get "excellent performance in dry and wet" from $190 18' tyres.

for $190, you could get some very very good 15' or 16' tyres such as toyo t1r's, which would give better handling, ride comfort and imo look better too.

sell the 18's and get something practical

Why don't you ring around a few shops- it takes like 5 minutes to work out what the market price is when you pick up the phone.

One of the problems I think you are going to find is that if you stick to 235 you may get good prices as it is a size seen on many Australian built cars. As soon as you go for an odd size like 215 in 18s (someone suggested that is a better size for the Jazz) the price will go up considerably per tyre.

If you post up your stock wheel size and offset and the offset of your new rims - I can let you know approx how much further the new tyres will come out compared to OEM. Then you can measure on your car and get a rough idea how it will sit compared to the body.

235 in 18s is a large tyre. It can even stick out on the Euro depending on the offset so I think it would be tough to get that on the Jazz. But post up some more info and lets see.

Sizing has a huge part to play in the price. If you go for the same size as seen on everyday Commodores, XR6s, etc you can find amazingly competitive pricing. I picked up my 235/45/17s for $180 per corner - Dunlop 3000As. Not a high end tyre but not bad either and better than the OEM Honda tyres.

I asked about purchasing exactly the same tyre in a less common 225/45/17 and the price was +$70 per corner. So why was 235 cheaper? That tyre and size is factory fitment to the XR6/XR8 - or at least was at the time. So you cannot judge a tyre on price alone.

What about the stock size - ie what is the size on the car and the tyres fitted?

I really recommend you think about getting 205/40/18 or 215/35/18 and even then you could get rubbing. I think it is wishful thinking to fit a 235 on a Jazz with no rubbing whatsoever. A 235 is flush with the body on the Euro (with a 7.5" rim) and it is a much bigger car. Sure the profile, offset are different - but you can see my point.

Alright well that is as far as I can help you then. I know in Thailand I saw some Jazzs with 18s but they were running 215/35/18. I am not sure if they rolled their guards or not.

Is there any particular reason why you are set on 235? It is not as if the price your friend offered you is such a bargain you cannot consider anything else.

Yfin they are either (depending on model):
175/65 R14 (on a 5.5 wide wheel) all around
185/55 R15 (on a 6 wide wheel) all around
