mine 18x8 of set 42, look good.
my friend put 19x8 look nice
and my other friend put 20x8.5 front and 20x9 rear (offset around 37 and 39 something like that, i forgot), look excellent.
please note 20x8.5 and 20x9 is MAXIMUM. he tried 20x9 and 20x9.5 and doesn't fit.
good luck !

my car pics have a broken link, will fix next time, also still in the middle of last stage of modification, still waiting some stuff more come from sing and jap (after an intensive negotiation with my wife :D :D )

I'm using 19x8 offset +45 all around with 225/35 tyres.. 2" drop and front rub like hell until I rolled the front fender
20x8.5 all around.. most likely you'll need to rolled the fender later on :)

may be if you try offset +42 or +38, it would be better (hopefully :)

I've got 18 x 7.5 and they sit nicely. I bought kings lowered springs and reset the rear springs 3 inches and left the front springs at 1.5 inches. My mates and admirers think it looks awesome.

hmmh.. i could be wrong, but i think the lower the offset, the rims will be closer to fender

offset is the thickness of center rims, so 45 is thicker than 42, it's mean make the rims little bit come out (close to fender).
if you got 38 and a bit deep inside, need spacer let say 2 to make it straight with fender, means all of ur offset become 40.
Very rare the wheel shop in ausie carry a complete offset stock (32-48), due to limited demand

sorry but i have to disagree with this, offset is definitely not the thickness of the center rims. "Offset is the location of the flat mounting surface of a wheel relative to the wheel's centerline. negative offset means that the mounting surface is toward the center of the car, positive offset means that its toward the outside of the car." (Quote from Wheel & Tire Guide magazine) so 38 offset means that the wheel barrel moves outward closer to the fender as compared to 42. higher offset makes the wheel barrel moves toward the suspension

I like to keep my factory looking sleek but not too over the top sporty, as at the end, It's still a civic, not a lambo.
I've installed the Honda 17" rims that come with the Accord euro luxury from 06 (dont like the 07's that much)

is it a lot cheaper than the better looking aftermarket 17" wheels?

It's not about price.
Its about not making the car look to way over the top.
as I said, I like to keep my car sporty, not pimped.
but thats just my way of doing things..
