Hey guys, I bought my accord on monday and I put a full tank of fuel in it... Cost me $70 to fill up, anyway im at the last line before the Empty line and iv done just over 300kms...
So by the looks of it im going to be lucky to get 400kms to the tank..

To me this seems very ordinary and I was expecting a lot more..

Is there something I can check that might be making it bad on fuel ?
Spark plugs, leaks, or anything else ?

Cheers...

Is this for a CD5 auto?
How many kms has it done? When was the last major service?

do a major first to see if that'll help, especially the sparks and fuel filter and air cleaner element. What fuel are you using?

- Replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been replaced already.
- Check the spark plugs, those need to be changed every year if they are regular copper ones.
- Check your air filter.
- Check your ignition timing on your dizzy. It should point slightly towards the front of your engine.

You should be getting much more than that. I am getting easy over 500km per tank. It is averaging at around 10lit/100km. That it stop/start driving all the time. I do not do any highway driving at all.

As mentioned before a good service, changing spark plugs, filters etc should help. Doesn't hurt to check timing as well.

What accord do you have? Mine is CG Accord 2.3 which can get around 400+ or something on auto

I would follow his advice. Especially with timing.. most ppl dont know where to set the timing on hondas as they arent very well marked.

also.. replace ur fuel filter.. it may help ;)

retune and untuneable computer???

thats what made me laugh about customers when i worked for a holden dealershop... they come in asking for their cars to be tuned because they chewed too much fuel... u cant tune them.. they have a set programming.

All they can do is have the software updated (which they wont) by honda engineers. They can check and change ur timing, check/replace plugs if need be.. and thats about it

unless honda now has a fully programmable ecu from factory?? (which i highly doubt because of emission laws... no programmable ecu allowed ;) )

its the o2 sensor. mines fuct and the cars only getting 450km per tank. usually does an easy 500. have to insist my mechanic orders a genuine honda item next time
