Hey guys, was wondering if theres any side affects with putting subs into the S2K.. ie, problems with the convertible?

Help would be appreciated!

Cheers!

Are you talking about power drainage?

I would expect if you had a large draw, then yes. You would.

You can help reduce the effects by not having your Subs engaged whilst operating the Convertible.

Really, that's a VERY small issue. it just takes a moment to turn your subs off; rather than strain your system.

hell, just turn your music down.

If you must spend money so you can play music and use the top; get a higher CCA battery; and/or a capacitator.

At the end of the day, unless your going to spend a small fortune on some high draw subs and amplifiers then you won't have a problem.

yeh, i just heard from someone that the vibration of the bass will cause the convertible to go into the incorrect position! ie, not line up properly

is this true??

btw, i'm not too worried about the power drainage, or the lack of room in the boot!

LOL, well from my experience, that has not happened. Boot space is a b*tch though.

i got a 12 in mine with a 800wRMS mono block and a 600 watt amp and there is close to none power drainage.

you will notice a little dimm when big beats come up when you volumes up but nothing dramatic

I've got two Pioneer subs in my boot and an amp then a false boot lining put in. Looks great and doesn't take up too much room. Haven't noticed any problems with the roof movement or alignment

you would be after a pair of 6" speakers, quite hard to find, as the majority of component speakers are 6.5" sized.

not a big variety to choose from with the 6" speakers.

I bet you can fit 6.5" speakers in! It's called making your own backings.

of course its possible, even if u make your own backing thingy, it would only give you an extra 1.5cm or so before u hit the glass window. and if u put spacers, there would be alot of grinding and cutting away of your door trim just to get it to fit.

True true mate. It's a fiddly exercise, speaker depth versus backing thingy depth (if you know what I mean)

as long as the magnet doesnt hit the window and that there is no need to cut doors etc.... theres no chance I'd be doing that!

Well this is fantasitc from what I have read my 6.5" splits will fit in the front and I know my 2x12's will perfectly fit in the boot (just fits) I need more weight over the rear treads I keep wheel spinning from 1st - 2nd :p :p :p ;)

MRSPCS

^^ me too.. from 2nd to 3rd aswell!!

btw, can you post a pic of your 12"s in your boot.. i have 2 12"s and having trouble finding a box that will fix in the boot!

CRXONE
04-06-2007, 04:17 PM
LOL :-p that cos you have 19's! Of course it'll wheel speen even from 5th - 6th!

The 2 12's are on one of those triangular shape boxes (from side on view) i dont think a rectangular shape box would fit. But mine does, its a common shape. Round back, yet kind of triangular in shape.

haha.. nahh.. i don't have the 20's on anymore.. stockies!! with the 20's no wheelspin whatsoever haha..
anyhow, went to see a friend today about fitting my 2x12" subs.. we're getting a 10" box (rectangular shape), and cutting the wholes alittle bit bigger so the 2 12" fit..
fits perfect, just slighty mod the box..
Still able to leave the stacker where it is.. and spare tyre stays in the car aswell!
