same here, it's worth doing it as the stock speakers are pathetic.

Yeah the factory speakers are lame but why would you go cutting bits of the car for? I just replaced mine with a really good set of co-ax's. The rears are only used for rear fill anyway, it's the fronts that count. ;)

u miss out on the bass without the rear. unless u get a sub.

6*9's are shit, why degrade the Type R with such inferior products. Get nice 6.5 splits or coaxials, and if you reall want bass get a 10 or 12" sub. Dont hack up the car :(

if you want bass get a sub, its not as if dc2r cant accomodate decent speakers, you could even get away without rear fill, just stick to stock. Get a decent pair of splits upfront fade about 70/30 and get a sub and amp.

So many possibilities depending on budget before having to go for 6x9's and cutting rear shelf.

Or you can even get a high end front splits, good amp to power it, good sound deadening and you will have plenty of bass at the front without 6x9 or sub at the back

getting a sub defeat the purpose of a type r, it just adds more weight compare with the 6 x 9. i know, u can get detachable sub. but hey, just tell the guy next to the light "wait, i got to remove my sub before i race u" lol

for the balance of ice/performance, i strongly recommend 6 x 9, unless your r is for show/autosaloon.

well sound deadening also defeats the purpose of a type r....but if your a sound quality freak (like myself) and want bass get a sub! 6x9's overtake any front speakers and pulls the soundstage back...you want it coming from infront of you.

if you want decent sound quality get 4 chan amp, 2 channels to splits and bridge two channels for a sub.

you want quality get a dedicated splits amp and dedicated sub amp.

you want nasty cheap music go the 6x9's.

this is just my opinion.....in the end it's what you want out of your audio setup, not everyone has the same requirements.

so let us know what you want and your budget, see if we can help you pick a package for your purpose!

A sub adds like 10 kg's at most. It is not going to make much of a difference, besides racing should only be done on a track. And i doubt you are going to take your subwoofer to a track. Nuff said.

I have very good quality 6x9's mounted onto the parcel shelf connected to a 4 channel amp and have also replaced the stock 6inch speakers in the front door panels with good speaker and also connected them to the amp. The sound quality that i have achieved is good and im happy with it. Its not earth shattering but quality wise its good.

For SQ, a good sound deadening and a nice pair of split is good enough in a car as small as a DC2 or DC5. I've heard a boston pro splits with dedicated amp to power it in a DC5 and the sound it produced was AMAZING!

Honestly, if you are going to contribute to a thread at least make an effort to post something useful that makes a bit of sense. Otherwise, keep your spamming off the forums.

Depends. If you like doof doof music then get a sub. If you like bands and the such then get 6x9. Just power them properly.

Running splits in the front with stockies in the rear leaves an empty sound. It's loud, but there is a big difference when you get the rears going too.

yeah with 6x9's in the back it totally ruins the soundstage...hahaha that's the big difference
