Any reason why tap water can't be used instead of distilled when making rad coolant mix?

it's because Distilled water is Ph Neutral and has no acids, salt or minerals... It give the coolant a longer life too.. :)

just boil up around 5 litres with your kettle and place it in a clean container to pour in.Should get rid of most of the gunk in water.

do u have a oil change pan or spare old coolant container ? clean it out .they should be 5l or so...jsut boil up 1 litre at a time and fill it up. Then fill up the coolant

boiling the water wont get rid of the salts, it will only get rid of bacteria and what not. To get pure water you have to distill it (eg cooling down the steam that comes from the kettle)
