Hey Everyone,
I have upgraded my front brakes to 285mm slotted rotors with Type R calipers, what would suit the rear without replacing the swing arms? I am happy to get larger disks re-drilled to 4x100 but is there bigger calipers that bolt on?
When I did the fronts I got whole hubs etc, so it was easy enough to swap.
Cheers
Chris

What do you mean by 'swing arms'? I have never heard this term used to refer to a part on a car - a motorcycle yes, but not a car. Are you talking about the hubs? Lower control arms?

Whoops, Well I mean the suspension arm that holds the wheel bearing etc, I guess swing arm shows how old I am haha, Rear Trailing Arm? does that sound more like it? Cheers, Chris

Trailing arms are better :).
What size discs are you running in the rear at the moment? There are a number of caliper/disc combinations that are fairly large.

Standard DA9 brakes, not sure what they are, but seeing as the fronts are bigger, want the backs done as well

most braking is done on the front, like 75% of it is, so why would u want to spend like 1000 on somethign thats not FULLY worth it? i just upgraded my fronts to slotted discs, i suggest some very good back pads for starters if u want to go down that track :)

since you are dealing with a fairly light car as is, i dont believe there is any real need to upgrade your rear discs/calipers, so long as it is only going to be a street driven car.
invest in some high quality pads, and that should do you just fine.
as coldfusion pointed out, the vast majority of your braking force is directed to your front wheels, so that is the end that you need to focus on.
if your determined to spend some more money on your brakes, however, consider braided lines, these will improve the feel considerably, and possibly even an upgraded master cylinder, since you have already increased the potential stopping ability of your fronts

I have upgraded my fronts to Type R spec, so I would like the rears to suit, I have noticed on the Best Motoring videos, that they show the Type R Integra had bigger brakes front and REAR than standard, just trying to see if VTiR ones or Type R arms would be easy enough to swap. I now have braided hoses and a Type R master cylinder and booster. But thanks for the help guys

Also don't forget that even tho the car does most of the breaking on the front, the more clamping force you have i.e. Pads, Calipers, you may have prolems with locking up the fronts when hard braking.
by also upgrading the rears you may balance this out, from experience i wish I would have done the same in my old DA coz ever since I upgraded the fronts with better discs and pads the car used to lock up on occasions.
you may want to check out some other cars at the wreckers which may have bigger discs at the rear end, cars like Legends and Accords may have bigger discs on the rear than tose fitted on the DAs, they would seem like a more logical choice.
I would also suggest getting your hands on blanks and re-drill them to 4x100 pattern, then you're rocking!
hope that helps????

Oooopppsss also forgot to mention that DA9s never came out with ABS here in Aus, thus why they're more prone to locking up the front wheels while hard braking.

would it be possible to upgrade the rears to type R aswell the same way as the fronts have been done. so they have been re drilled to suit 4 x 100?

This is exactly what I am trying to find out, what size are the type R rear discs and can you just swap discs (redrilled) and use type R calipers on DA trailing arms?? surely someone here has done it??
