Ok guys, so i have the choice of upgrading my car.

At the moment, i either want to do a HD clutch with lightened flywheel, or some springs to lower it.

Im guessing the clutch/flywheel installed will be roughly $1000-1200
and the springs will be roughly $500-600.

So naturally the clutch option will take a bit longer to save up the dosh, but im tossing up whether the performance increase will be worth it.

I want to lower it due to the fact that after putting on 17" rims, theres quite a substantial gap between the chassis and the tyre.

My cars only a GSI 94 teg, with 200,000km on the clock.

opinions?

thanks
James

Is your clutch slipping yet? If you think it will be worn pretty soon, then get prepared to change your clutch and flywheel first.

na clutch isnt slipping yet, it doest grap as good as ide like, but its hardly close to being in a state that it requires replacing.

My friend can get me some custom made king springs for cheap, like 300+ bucks, these much better than the crappy king spings sold off the shelf? They are the sort where u supply drop height and spring rate.

300+? do that and DIY install (if u kno how) and while ur cruizin on a slammed teg for cheapish, save up and wait for the clutch to start going, once its starting to go, put in the clutch+fly wheel :), thats what id do, no point changing clutch if its still goin good!

How much will it lower your car by? If you lower it too much using stock shocks, you'll have blown shocks within the year.

im looking at around 2 - 2.5" drop.

Do i need to compensate much in the rated drop due to the fact that my cars springs have already sagged over the years?

o btw.. just soo u know.. opening an engine box itself alone is already $450 to $700 depending on where u go... so factor that price in as well...

clutch and fly vs springs? i'd go clutch and fly

clutch and fly vs coilovers (or good springs and shocks)...... i'd go coilovers.

can you save your cash and get a VTI-R instead?

Get lowered shocks too then. 2" will blow your stock shocks.

just outa interest, how much on average would a vti-r (1993-1995) 200km on the clock be?

My tegs a 94 and 200km on the clock, got it for 7300$, and have spend about 3grand on it on mods, so changing vehicle is going to cost a lot more than the difference of the two vehicles due to the mods already done.

I have heard that 2" is the max you would consider going without doing 'substantial' damage to the shocks over the years?

i have considered coilovers, but i cant fork out 1.2K at the moment.

I've heard that 2" blows it within 1 year! The limit is like 3cm or so.

ah crap, how much does that suck. I am considering not getting them all together ai. Wouldnt be worth the dosh if things r going to stuff up. Maybe a spoiler perhaps, seeing as the springs would be purely for looks, a spoiler might be a better bang for buck in that respect.

Do DC2 spoilers fit on DC4's?

10k give or take for a stock one.
