hey there, being a civic, and very likely running an EV or EW motor, to get a B series install done you're looking at:

Hasport B series (84-86 Civic/Crx) Kit
Hasport Linkages
Hasport Driveshafts

its NOT a cheap operation for starters especially for us Ozzies.

What motor does your civic have? is it EFI or Carby?

Your cheaper option would be to install a D16A3 motor from an Integra, or D16A8 from a CRX. I think you can use driveshafts from the 86-89 teg, but couple of the engine mounts will have to be relocated.

on top of that if your car is Carburated you'll have to change some of the fuel lines - not to mention rewire the engine harness as anything above the carby EV motor runs an ECU.

its carby

ehh..

is it worth the mucking around?

depends - how bad do you want a conversion? a D series might cost you 2K a B series will cost you 5.

you have to weight the pros and cons. if you want to do it just to do it i'll say its a waste of money, but since the car is super light and perfect for some fun track work, you could either stick with the 1.5L carby and invest in some suspension upgrades and then go for a D series swap - you can get a D16A for under 1K with Gbox, 'maybe' another K to have it installed.

OR sell it and buy a Civic or CRX with a ZC already done :)

If you really want to do a conversion, best bang for bucks would be the ZC, but you could try something different and do a city turbo conversion. I've heard of people doing it to that year civic but more common in first gen civics. Also the city turbo engine is only a 1.3l but hey it sounds cool.

Yeah, would be a bit of a waste of money, but whatever rows your boat...

where would i find these city turbo engines?

i think.. they are very rare??

anyone know where to find?

Best bets would be cityturbo.com, they always have them enngines coming and going, when i did the conversion in my gen1 civic i found the engine straight away, just good luck. But you can find them cheapest in New Zealand and there are a few going round. Just have to throw a line out on the forum if really want one

Best I've seen in Singapore was a 200 bhp CRVTEC B20/B16 hybrid.

BTW - the EN1 can be tweaked heavily to about 110-125bhp and an EW series 12 valve to about 150bhp

if you want this 1.5L to kick around a little harder, do some research into installing ITBs, raising compression maybe...

Im personally off major engine conversions, better to buy the car with the conversion made already or upgrade the current engine.

ZC/D16 can come from either an Integra, CRX or Civic.

Yeh, it's well worth it in that body. Give it a bit of a kick up it's bum with that power. D16Y1's would be a good choice too, can't forget about them either ey? 500 bux for the engine package I would say. Another 1k to chuck it in, or 0 if you do it yourself. Tank and lines will run for around 450 to 500 as well. So if your up for the challenge, that'd be a great project to do. Oh and around 250 for the 2nd hand mounts.

old skool... get a city turbo motor. although they are getting old. you best bet would be a new style motor eg.. a d16y4 + turbo kit. this thing would fly and i rekon it could be done for under 3000....

hayashi_1986

Hmm...A Y4 package would run for around 1k. Turbo kit without any sort of management or engine work...2k.

Blown motor...Priceless.

3k will get you a decent y4/y1 with a backyard kit (or the Greddy one running the TD04 and a crappy eManage).

Then again, you can run it untuned for up to 8psi without any real problems :) Jord's suggestion seems viable if you don't want to boost it any more. 8psi is plenty...I'd say...90-95kw at the fronts? My NA d16y1 runs 78kw atw the last time I dyno'd it and that's with IHE mods with a fan blower running at the front. It's zippy and quick as it is, and even NA would be a good option to go since it's such a small and light car.

Honda-tech offer a heap load of write-ups on d-series turbos, frankenstein swaps, hybrid swaps. Some associated areas would be what mounts to use, bay clearance issues, wiring (VERY IMPORTANT :D ) etc.
http://www.honda-tech.com

Turbo it...and your smiling all the way to redline/full boost :D

If you need suggestions on what turbo to use, or even kits to buy, ask some of the fellas over at the Forced Induction section. They'd know their stuff pretty well :) OR head on over to http://www.d-series.org. They do some pretty good stuff and can offer you a heap of advice on the path to take, if you choose to go turbo.

Happy Hunting :D

what about a d16y8 with turbo u can get a set up to do about 200hp at the wheel without an issue.

Since this has been bumped will add my little bit.

Mate has a 84 Civic with a Turbo City motor in it and he LOVES it. There is a bit of a write up about it someplace. Will link it when I find the time to find it.

Cheap as chips over here to do. He didn't need custom engine mounts or anything. All OEM parts from that era.

200hp would be pretty hard to maintain traction. my car weighs 850kg with driver in full trim.

That being said, it certainly would be a fun car to drive :D

Im doing the swap as we speak. D16a1 from a first gen integra DA. You use the whole engine and gearbox, the mounts minus one of them (which is one of the stock civic ones) the wiring loom just needs to be tackled properly.

There are very few wires that need to be replaced in the civic. You just need to transplant the wire loom for the computer and engine and the associated relays ect... heres the best thing u will ever find on the 3g swap:::: http://www.redpepperracing.com/forums/index.php?showforum=16

read on and enjoy oldschool coolness..

Unfortunately i think this is a swap into a 2g, not a 3g

I have my 1g swap coming along slowly...

Spoon-Accord
14-01-2008, 03:49 AM
well my plan is to make this thing a daily driver, not a slow one aswell,

H22a wont fit in it, fullstop. cause i do have an engine and quads and cams and blah blah blah to pop in, but fitting a h22a would be too much of a fuss.

atm i have to fix the timing belt to get it registered, after its registered i'll strip it down bare,

customer a custom a 90's civic/integra dash into it.
and rewire the whole thing, its gonna take time, but bring old school back is the game!

i wonder if a b series would fit in it... if h22a could... :)
