hi,
I got a civic 2002 sedan gli, my car is an auto and at times when the car is idle, it just turns off by itself or sometimes the rpm bumps down then up as if the car is running out of fuel..it seems that the RPM is set too low from the previous service.
How do I set the idle RPM higher?
I think the rpm should be somewhere around 1000 rpm or a lil higher isn't it?
i had the same problem on my old 7th gen and it was due to the idle solenoid being munted apperntly
take it to the dealer and they will fix it for you
and btw my 8th gen idles at 700ish

is it possible to set the rpm by myself for now? if yes, how?
I'm working full time and have no time to go to the dealer

Not that I am aware of. As stated, this sounds like a mechanical fault. Just take it to a dealer before or after work.

Dont set the idle to a higher RPM since that can cause other problems.
Fix the source of the problem rather than patching the problem.
Do you service the car regularly? Maybe the spark plugs are in bad condition or the air or fuel filter is clogged.
On older cars, it can be caused by clogged injectors, dirty throttle body, dirty IACV filter, bad spark plugs, etc.. But since the car is only 5 years old, it could simply be a dirty sensor/solenoid, or the O2 Sensor needing replacement.
Take it to a honda dealer and get them to check for ECU Error codes (it only takes a few minutes). The error code should direct you to the source of the problem.
If you dont wanna take it to the dealers, you can get an OBDII decoder from eBay for like $25 so you can check the code yourself.

I think if it's idle 700-900 should be fine.. and if you turn on the aircond, it will increase over 1000, if it's idle more than that.. or lower than 700, that should be a problem and must be fixed from the dealer with re-map.. or cleaning all the injection..
