Hey all,
another noob question, instead of doing a complete engine conversion, i heard that some people just get a B16/B18 top end or something to put onto their stantard d16y4's to give them more power? Is this correct or is someone pulling my leg

thanks

someone is pulling ur leg.
only works for example b16a head(vtec) with a b18b block (non-vtec)
has to be in the same series

As far as I am aware, you cant put a b series head on a d series block. You can do a 'mini-me' swap where you put a d series vtec head on your block, but I dont think any of the b series heads are compatable.

Do a search on this site http://www.d-series.org/forums/ your questions will be answered there.Just doing a mini me swap is not the answer there are alot of other things in the COMBINATION of parts you will need to make it all work.

Id rather go for a b16a swap, its still cheap, and the results would be much better.

as dyno dave said, there are a few others parts to go along with just throwing the head on... mucking around with ecu, gaskets etc...

but a basic /simple mini-me does show gains... because you'll have a slightly higher flowing head, slight higher compression and you'll have vtec
