Hello Hello!

After driving my EG8 for a while I have grown rather bored of being beaten off the line by the kids on scooters. A few others in my opening post mentioned taking it down the force fed route.

I wanted to know from others experiences what sort of boost could the stock internals handle.

The Car is nearing 200k km and since I have owned it (only 4000k are mine) it has never been gunned while cold. The previous owner did take care of it I found about a bajillion service slips for it and there is no smoke after idling for 10 mins.

I am taking it in for a major service and an exhaust and S.R.A.I. put on. But have decided to just go with the service until I know I can get boost.

I was thinking of running a TX3 turbo with about 6psi, then getting the SRAI, full exhuast.

Anyways the point.

6PSI on stock internals for a D15B7 thats is nearing 200k kms?

Yay or Nay?

all depends on the condition of the motor.
but if it's in good nick, 6psi is safe, but it's all in the tune
don't run a tx3 turbo, run a t28 or a t3.
a short ram intake your talking about? you put on a filter on the intake side of the turbo, not on the throttle body after you boost it.

Standard internals is fine, just make sure you get some good engine management, such as a stand alone computer... this is what will determine weather you motor will last, and the tune (in general). been running 10 - 12 psi on my d15b7 for the past 3 years, run it on good fuel, good oil, treat her well and never had any problems...

you might wanna get the engine reconditioned so the compression is decent and to increase reliability+power.

n-o. if its a good condition motor, dont bother geting it reconditioned. It will handle any where up to 11-12 pounds with a good tune and management.

EuroDude: while you are correct, the overall power output will be greater after a recon, this would only be the case if the engine were heavily worn. I took the cylinder head of a 185.000km D15B7 recently and the motor was in perfect health. Similar conditions as mentioned.

And if you are going to recon the motor, you may as well add forged rods and pistons, and while you are doing that, you may as well get the head serviced, and while you are getting the head serviced, you may as well get it ported, and while you are having it ported, order a camshaft and cam gear, and after you have ported it may as well get an aftermarket intake, and then get a big throttlebody......ect ect.

So no, if it is in decent conditon as you say it is, source a bolt on kit for it, and get it tuned and have fun with 180+ hp atw on 10lbs. quite enough to smoke plenty of 'kids on scooters, or daddys v8'
