hey guys,
just drove my brothers civic... its a manual civic.. and wen i back off whilst in gear i hear a whining kind of noise.
the kind of noise a diff would make, but im not entirely sure that fwd's have a diff... would it just be the gearbox??
cheers

just a guess, throw out bearing. time for a new clutch, and while ur at it a light flywheel.

your brothers civic clutch bearing is naerly dead.
change it along with the clutch if he needs a new 1 or just wait till he needs 1

The clutch centre bearing / spiggot bearings are a goneskis!!
you will have to get a new one, and whilst your at it ...get new clutch (if worn out) and machine the flywheel.

thanks guys...
is it wise to leave it and wait for the clutch to go and replace it all at once?

well if he cant stand the noise and it's pissing him off and willing to spend the money then by all means change it.
but if it's bearable then leave it untill next clutch change
