is civic auto good for pleasure driving, sometimes driving hard. i'm thinking about the base model, with suspension and ROM change.

any advice would be appricated.

for tough driving or legal on track. wondering if auto is sweet or not during gear change and esp if it holds a gear on 2nd 3rd 4th gears

auto is good for daily driving (mine was :p). Still beat some modified car on Red light as well (I only lost twice out of 10 red light start :p - lost only to XR6 and Aurion). So if you looking for a daily drive, its all good for me...

the fd2 auto is i-vtec man, i think vtec-e is jazz,, ask arrong our unofficial head of honda bits n tech hehehe

n golf gti's uses dsg,,, only accel n brake pedals, no clutch,, the car does it for u,, the trannys hav twin clutch btw,, so its theoretically faster than manual,, unless u hav some uber fast shifting skills,,, autos have torque converters which makes our cars slower than manual but an article from temple vtec asia sez that the FD's autos have less power loss than the manual :p hope that helps

Actually, FD2 is the Civic Sport. FD1 is the VTi and VTi-L.
FD1's i-VTEC technically is different from regular i-VTEC. It has electronic control to activate VTEC at any RPM (based on throttle and load), and it is used to engage between 12 valve and 16 valve mode like vtec-e.

In the FD2, the intelligent part is different. It is for varying the intake cam timing throughout the RPM, called VTC (FD1 doesn't have this). But VTEC itself still activates at a fixed RPM.
