i dunno if this has been said before

just curious. how much a stock
and a modified H22a power graph is like..

like how much at the wheels etc.

anyone dynoed their H22a's before?
i didnt have a chance :( cause i did a no no with it.

i was hoping to get 120atw with all my bolt on's

but hey

POST Up!

Yeah most that I've seen have been around that ^^

mine was 116.3kw. 2.5"exhaust, type S intake with k&n panel, headers of some sort. Will post the graph up for you a bit later.

edit: Here's the graph.

u talkn about jdm or audm h22a?

a stock jdm would prolly pull 105 to 110kw.

stock audm around 100-105.

The race car makes about 132kw (I say about because it has shown anywhere from 129-135kw depending on the day).

It is:

- AUDM H22A
- head has had ports opened up and shaved
- standard inlet and exhaust manifolds
- 2.5" exhaust with 1 straight thru muffler (no cat)
- custom CAI with bellmouth
- EMS computer
- no A/C or alternator
- balance shafts locked

The apprentice's H22A makes 106kw with 2.5" exhaust while a customer's Type S H22A with Hondata tune makes 134kw with 2.5" exhaust and custom CAI.

Yes I normally see anywhere from 105 to 115kw in STD form.

nice, you running an OEM bottom end then?

The bottom end hasn't been touched. We don't even know how many kms its got on it as the engine came from a wrecker. :)

you can get 130kw+ with the right bolt ons and thats an AUS spec, you would get a touch more with JDM spec

ive attached my dyno of my prelude...

I got 111kw @ the wheels, all i put on was a pod filter and cold air feed from the front, but i also had my bonnet up when i took the dyno.
oh and i have iridiumIX sparkplugs.

- 50mm TWM ITBs
- Custom headers
- 3" aluminium exhaust with 1 massive straight through muffler.

thats very impressive.

so its bored out (have i read that right)?

no alternator????? how does that work??

grumpy rooster
04-02-2009, 06:01 PM
No its not bored out. Standard bottom end. The head is the only thing touched.

No alternator is because it is a drag car and alternators weigh a lot. It runs a voltage stabiliser that keeps the voltage constant.

It would be cool if it was mine, but its not. I just help out at race meets.

No plans for any engine mods at this stage. It gets reved pretty hard at the moment and hasn't shown signs of any problems (8,500rpm). It will keep getting thrashed until it breaks I think. :)

h22a are underratted motor. H22a with the simple I/H/E bolt on will see about 115-125kw atw with crap loads of torque.

i only got 110.5 kw atw stock I/H 2.5 twinloop Mugen catback and a s300.

SIR JDM made 133kw atw on the same day. Similar mods, 3inch intake with blox filter and the RMF replica headers but everything else is stock, like intake manifold and throttle body. With the currency as it is, the header cost around 800landed.

Go see Joe at Hi-Comp Performance 96770505. He is at Minchinbury so not a huge drive for you. He knows H22s since his drag car has one, and the apprentices Civic has one. :)

h22a sir jap
xforce extractors
stock cat
stock cat back system (with exhaust leak) and 3.5" tip
stock intake with pod
neptune ecu - tuned by andy from akmotorworks @ 999
so obdviously rooom for improvement. will look to get high flow cat, CAI in the not so distant future. also weld up the exhaust leak asap..

but overall car is performing tonnes better

but i know what your saying. but before and after is always good to know

Pap's,

Hate to be the party pooper, but you aught to know...
Your initial power run is with an inertia of 100 with a ramp rate of 100...
& last run with final output has the inertia set to 140 with a ramp rate of 100.
This would more than account for 85~90% of the gain seen.

Have the car re-dynoed with 100@100 (IN@RR)
You'll see what I mean.

paps02
31-03-2009, 08:29 PM
i noticed that....

what does it mean?

TODA AU
31-03-2009, 08:39 PM
i noticed that....

what does it mean?

In laymans terms... The inertia function has been used as a type of multiplier.

The higher the inertia number the higher the power reading.
Visa versa is also true.
This is fine when the values remain the same for before & after.
But you can change the values & do a before & after that bares any weight.

If you were to dyno the car again with 100@100.
You would likley see only 3~5kw gain max.

Shoot4 (shootout mode) uses inertia 80 / ramp rate 100
These parameters are locked out in shootout.

so specs are;

-Jap h22a SiR
-Cold air intake
-xforce extractors
-magna flow metal cat
-2.5" custom stainless steel mandrel bent exhaust

ive noticed that alot of K builds they are running 3" exhausts, since the H is in the same sort of capacity (sorry for bad spelling) would it be expected 2 run a 3" system with a H series also? also is there much range in terms of after market bolt on exhaust systems ? (h22 eg, h22ek etc) or is a custom exhaust the norm?

sorry for heaps of qustions and bad spelling

cheers
