Just had the bolsters repaired and the outer sections retrimmed in black suede and restitched with red threads.

My trimmer managed to repair the foam blocks with generic stuff instead of buying genuine Recaro replacement bolsters for close to $200 each.

The black suede is aftermarket stuff and as close as we could get, even if we could source the the Honda black suede that would match 100% due the fading and wear and tear on the rest of seat.

All up cost us $400 which is not cheap due to the work involved to strip the seat and restitch.

If both of your DC2R seats are well worn and the bolsters are truly rooted, you are much better off buying a pair of Recaros with rails from one of our trader BT revolution for around $1500-1800 landed and sell the rooted old set. If it's cheap enough some scavengers would buy them and the rails are worth something too; so the change over might well be less than $500 plus 4-6weeks wait.

Still this is another option that you've investigated. Looks good. Well done.

Take care of these bolsters now. Lift your ass over them when getting in and out.

its a shame the colour doesnt match completely, and the material used from the factory is actually alcantra not suede.

i would be more tempted to do the whole lot, or as you said buy a pair that are cleaner i suppose

They are alcantara-synthetic suede.

If they were natural suede you would see all that fluffy bits on the material.

what is involved with replaceing JUST the foam?

my material is fine... just the foam isn't there.

what about the middle part? where you actually sit, its not a suede... more like a fabric... you didnt change it???

i guess over time it will start blending with the rest of the seat
$400 is a bit steep but it is pretty hard to come across 1 seat thats in the colour you want and in really good condition.

any good trimmer will be able to replace the collapsed part of the foam with generic foam of a similar density and shape it to blend in with the recaro foam. So it's mainly labour involved in unpicking, foam repair and re-stitching for you.
