View Full Version : Oil on intake pipe / throttle body question
Cleaning my air filter today and noticed a small amount of oil in the stock intake pipe near the throttle body. 99% sure that is engine oil rather than oil from the oiled air filter. Should I clean this oil up or just leave it? Hard to describe the quantity - not dripping - just enough to see oil smudge on my fingers. Car runs fine.
I have not cleaned my throttle body before - car at 45k. Is this something I should do now or wait for higher mileage?
Thanks

It's normal I think. The cam cover has a breather pipe which runs to the intake, the purpose is to accommodate any blow-by past the valves and it is normal provided it's not excessive.
Thanks guys - so I shouldn't bother cleaning it. I would have to remove the intake tube to clean it properly

Spray some TB cleaner in there. Its like $20 a can from Repco. That should clean it up

Ok - just took a look at the TB and it looks clean and new. I think I'll leave using the spray for now.
