hey guys.. i've just bought a Integra with a
R conversion top to bottom.

first things first..

the gearbox is very weird..

when i put it in first gear, i could move the gear knob left to right like it is in neutral.

in 2nd gear, moves freely, and third..

all gears seem like it moves freely. when in a gear and throttle is applied.
the gear stick moves like a B*^ch

so i seriously don't know whats going on. cause i never had a problem with it in my previous cars..

can someone please elighten me?

i looked under the car.. its got this huge pole controling the gear changing from the box and stick. no cables like my old H22a.

the shift linkage maybe loose or not connected.
You may have to jack up the car . supported on stands , and follow the shigt linkage back from the gearbox to the support point. See if its firmly held by the 2 bolts a the end bush (holds the shift linkage up)

i had a look before..

the linkage. does it suppose to have a bracket to hold the linkage in place?

or.. bushes can die after prolonged usage?

make sure where the shift linkage pole that connects to the gearbox has the right pin!.... so u need to jack the car up, remove the clip around it and check whether they used the PIN or a nut and bolt. There should be a pin if not then there is your problem

sounds like the type R conversion 'from top to bottom' maybe didnt include the type R shifter and shift linkages.

sounds to me like u have GSi or VTiR linkages with worn-out linkage bushings.

definately replace the bushings and is worthwhile to consider upgrading to type R shift linkages and short-shifter (OEM).

i've got this same problem with my type r, its not annoying me, but would it cause further dramas in the future?

Just sloppier shifting than from say actual new or aftermarket bushes.
Eventually the bus can pop out under hard shifting and might need to be reinstalled ( easy)

I thought the only difference between the dc2 and the dc2r shift linkages was nickel plating.

I thought the only difference between the dc2 and the dc2r shift linkages was nickel plating.

The DC2R is significantly larger diameter , giving a firm shifter feel.
The actual bushes , for all i can see are exactly the same.

this is the same feeling i get when i changed to a short shifter. its looser from side to side in each gear. might get that bushing kit and see if it helps.

check to see if everything is tight. the shifter stabiliser and all the bolts underneath as well as the shifter to linkage connection.

you should have gotten a new bush when you got your shifter put in anyway

your gear shift bushes are busted. put it on the hoist and look at the two long rod, their are bushes on the end of them.
