View Full Version : Rough idle?

Got a run around 1990 Camry
2.0 DOHC EFi 3SFE engine.

It's quite high in km's (328Kkm) but runs quite well except a choppy idle.
The revs stay more or less constant, but it vibrates then goes away, then vibrates again.

What could this be? The engine is quite responsive and has a decent amount of power, doesn't blow smoke at all, and I got 670km from the last tank

Any ideas what it could be?

mabe IACV? do camrys come with them? i'm guess they'd have too...

sometimes a dirty IACV causes bad idle...

I was gonna say try cleaning the idle air control valve (IACV).
If its only during idle it makes sense..

The motor isn't the smoothest out there, but it's not too bad either for an old 4 cyl

Where do I find these IACV?
Or should I just take the TB off and clean the hole thing?

Could be a broken or worn engine mount! They can do funny things on higher mileage cars!

this DIY of bens might help... its not a honda so guess might be slightly different... but just look for something like it...

a TB clean doesn't hurt neither...

like spicey said... might be mounts... check your torque mounts too...

lmao. Not only that he drives a lancer. No idea y but he loves to hang out in this honda forum and asks questions about his Lancer, not just a few questions either, he probably posts more questions then 90% of the honda owners on this forum. Strange guy.

Maybe he thought there were technically minded people on OZHonda who could give him an answer he was looking for ??

Civic Type R you're spot on ;)

But, realistically I joined as my friend owned a B16A Civic and I was finding stuff out for him.
Also, as my Lancer is MIVEC, I thought I could relate to Honda's VTEC
