Hi guys,
I'm thinking of lowering my ek vti-r on its stock wheels but would like to fill out the guards a bit more. To what extent can i do this just by fitting wider tyres on my stock 15's? ideal would be for the tyres to sit flush with the guards although i know that might not be achievable...
what's the widest tyre i can fit without causing trouble?

Running a 205 would be fine but won't fill the guards.Once you get into bigger profiles on your Ek4 rims they will look crap imo.Try and look at some ek's in the flesh and see what they're like.

im running 205's on 15x7 rims and its scrubbing .. dont get anything bigger than 205's unless you have a 7" wide rim and rolled guards
wider is def. not better on stock rims.

DONT get wider tyres.
Get DIFFERENT offset wheels .
Get MORE - offset. IE +35 + 30 etc compared to + 38.
This will bring the entire wheel "out" and fill teh guards more.

205 will fit
but 195 is the ideal width for EK4 rims.

DONT get wider tyres.
Get DIFFERENT offset wheels .
Get MORE + offset. IE +38 + 40 etc compared to + 30.
This will bring the entire wheel "out" and fill teh guards more.
You mean, LESS offset wheels. Increasing offset DECREASES track, which is the opposite of what he wants to do.

try spacer plates
For what it's worth they are illegal.
I'd go with Bennjamin's suggestions and get different offset wheels. Too wide a tyre on a narrow (stock) rim will look wrong, just like narrow tyres do.

Getting new rims would be ideal :) , id probably go for a 7inch wide rim with the correct offset to make it flush with the guards, but not enough cash atm
has anyone seen the black turbo civic from hypertune? it was featured in autosalon mag a few months ago.. that car runs stock vti-r wheels and the rear tyres seem to fill out the guards quite well coz they bulge out of the rim a bit...
i know it sounds a bit cheapo but if i can achieve a more aggressive look by just lowering the car and fitting wider tyres then id be happy for now...
i guess it will keep me happy unitil i get my hands on sum rota j.spl's later on in the year

i run a 205/55 on mine, there's abit of rub on ek4 stock rims, but if you take out the plastic wheel arches you should be fine.
No rub on 205/50 through.
Currently got a +40 offset and it runs without 205/55 without rubbing
ek4 rims are 6 1/2 width

when u had ur stock rims and the 205/55's how much was ur car lowered compared to stock height?
I think i'm only gonna go 1.5 inches...

ok guys, I found some 2nd hand wheels I might wanna buy,
They're 15x7 with +42 offset, my question is:
regardless of whether u have a 15x6 +42 offset or 15x7 +42 offset, will they look like they have the same track? or will the 15x7's stick out of the guard more?
