D-day For Hot Honda Accord

Looking for a sporty load-lugger with excellent fuel economy? Here's a new Honda that could well fit the bill. Wowing the crowds at this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, the Accord Tourer Diesel Sports Study Model uses the firm's first high-performance oil-burner.

Delivering 140bhp to the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox, the all-new 2.2-litre i-CDTi unit propels the Honda from 0-60mph in around nine seconds and on to a top speed of more than 130mph - while returning 52mpg. The powerplant is set to join the Accord line-up in February, before being added to the firm's CR-V off-roader range later next year.

The sporty Tourer features a deep front airdam and flared wheelarches filled with magnesium-look five-spoke alloys. At the back, a large spoiler and twin tailpipes add to the effect. The concept is as appealing inside as it is out, with leather sports seats and extensive aluminium trim.

A Honda spokesman revealed: "The styling is a teaser for a forthcoming performance vehicle." That's a clear hint the firm's engineers are working on a hot Accord Type R... and it could come in estate and diesel forms. Mat Watson

This is one hot beast with some serious braking gear ... ! Some of the event photos. Unfortunately Honda AU is not involved as usual. So don't expect anything close to our shores.

very nice tourer version, exterior is looking very good... headlights, rims, kit etc... not a big fan of the luxury interior though :).. would be good to get some of the parts in for the aussie euro....

Calvo

damn those rims look mighty fine...
AP1 F20c: r those brembo brakes i see???

AP1 F20c
10-10-2003, 05:42 PM
Oh yes, Brembo alright ... 8)

The only thing I figured, this needs to be a 6 Speed Manual instead. We might however get the Accord Wagon down the track, depending if Honda AU makes that choice. The last Wagon if I remember correctly was the 1980s Series Accords to hit AU shores.

hehe well u need some good brakes to stop them superb wheels :D
yeh and a 6 speed manual would top it off nicely.

also there r 5th gen accord station wagons around, just not very many of them. probably most popular one around is the maroon 5th gen accord station wagon rollin on 19's (i think) and has a full airbag suspension setup. very pimpin indeed :D

no idea calvo..

honda said diesel engines werent their game..
cause they claim to be very noisy.. which honda dont really want..
but they gave it a go,, and added a turbo to it.. and WOW.. they are introducing it to the accord Euros.. due to the car being very fuel efficeint :D

but everyone has to agree.. all honda's are quiet..
my dad went for a test drive in the new accord euro..
the closing of everydoor was god dam quiet..
even the CD player.. no eject noise.. just quiet.. :D

Honda... its really " Power Of Dreams"

Diesel turbo is not exactly what I'd call Honda style ... Kinda expecting i-VTEC tweaked technology instead.

In fact, the Euro Accord handles pretty well, but suspension is slightly soft for a performance orientated ride. Nothing a set of good suspension upgrade can't correct. Not to mention, there's VSA (A first as yet?) standard across the range and 6 speed manual, 7KW down from a DC5R? Not to shabby indeed for a sedan.
