hey guys this is whats happening....
ive got 4ga power cables, and 60a fuse in the fuse holder
its running a 1000W rms mono block
fuse always blow within about 30 mins or less of hard playing...
someone tell me what the hell is wrong, checked all polarities and wires run and comes up all good what can cause that fuse to blow in the first place?
i have some suspicion but i wanna hear what u guys have to say first...
cheers

Whats the fuse for the amp, it could be bigger then 60amps... my old school 4X50 amp already have a 60amps fuse.

yeah true please tell us what is the fuse rating on the amp first ? coz 1000wrms at least 3x 60A fuse on the amp, so you need at least 300A on the battery side

ummmm its 3X 40A fuses
my friends are running same set up fine apart from they have a capacitor

if 3x 40A thats already 120A and do you have any other amp for the split ? I reckon you should try a higher fuse ..........

I dont think you will find a 300A fuse :lol:

power = volt X Ampere

Assume 1000W is 1 ohm, at 2 ohm you get 500W.

P = 14.4v X 60A
P = 864w
Assuming you get 80% efficiency as a class D, you get 691W...

P = 14.4 X 80A
P = 1152w
Assuming you get 80% efficiency as a class D, you get 921W...

What the heck am I mumbling about... go put a 80A or 100A fuse at the fuse block.... I hope we are talking about the one at the battery right... dont go change the fuse at the amp or you will risk frying the amp if the fuse dont blow.

For my other 4X100 amp, I am using 100A fuse at the dist block.

I have a 2000 amp ANL type fuse here (basically solid across and 1mm thick) which I like to show off regularly. Just have to find somewhere to install it now. Haha! :D

that sure is alot of maths.

Well looks like you'll need a bigger fuse, say 100A.

Cause assuming your amp makes 1000W@1ohm

Wiring your sub would mean a 2ohm load, and would draw approx 80A max.

Since

4ohm will only draw up to= 40A
2ohm= 80A
1ohm= 120A

hence the 3 individual fuses.

So I would upgrade to an ANL fuse holder if you haven't already, and get a 100A fuse, since the main fuse is to protect the power wire, not the amp itself.

guys what the hell are yous on about!!!
lol i dont get that math thing at all
im running
1000W RMS @ 2 ohms
so someone tell me in my language what ampare is the fuse ment to be??
and why the fark does it keep blowing
btw i got 50A in there atm and its holding in for like 30 mins
once i crank it to 0-33(max)
i sit the vol at 18 is okay, but its kinda sofe, when i hit 20 22 thats when i blows....
btw its my 8th fuse so far in less then a week

LOL, okay.

What type of fuse holder do you have? AGU or ANL?

ANL?

AGU?
http://img.alibaba.com/photo/50563649/AGU_Fuse.jpg

If you have the AGU [this one ^^^], then replace it with an ANL fuseholder and fuse.

Replace your fuse with a 120A or 150A, since AGU fuses don't go up to 120A, and its better if you have an ANL for future upgrades, and current capablilities.

Maths are crap....

When you are playing soft, the current draw is less then then 60amps so it still works, when you crank it up, the currnet draw is more then 60amps so it blow.... as mention earlier, try a bigger fuse, 80A or 100A.

I am a noobie in SPL, so havent seen anything bigger then 150A. I dont think you need that much of power for SQ anyway :p

you are a noob not only for SPL but SQ too, you dont need SPL system to have that kind of power, READ THIS:

In 1988, another superstar car was introduced to the car audio world. The 1986 Buick Grand National (Installations April '89 and August '92) built by SpeakerWorks in Orange, California (and later sold to Richard Clark), is believed to be the only vehicle ever to retire undefeated from the pro division of the national sound-off circuit.
The bad black Buick won the Alpine Car Audio Nationals II Pro Unlimited (751 watts and up) division in '88, and IASCA's Pro unlimited title in '89, '90, and '91 before being retired by Clark.
"It's the winningest car of all time in the Pro category," said Clark, who keeps the car in storage in North Carolina. "It was totally undefeated, and its design had a big impact on the way things are done today."
http://www.termpro.com/showcars/terminator/images/ca1096g.gif The SpeakerWorks Buick was "the winningest car" in IASCA's Pro division, according to Richard Clark. The system featured two 15-inch subwoofers behind the rear seat, and a 12-inch sub in each rear side panel.

According to Eric Holdaway, whose family owns SpeakerWorks and designed the original system, the speaker locations in the Buick were a pioneering concept.
"People thought we were nuts to put speakers in the kick panels," said Holdaway. "Our goal was to maximize the pathlengths for better imaging and staging. It was a groundbreaking approach that most top installers are following today."
The all-stealth Buick, equipped with only six speakers and nearly 5,000 watts of power, won four national titles. "I won $60,000 in prize money in one year with that car," said Clark.

Are there any privately own (excluding demo and factory sponsor systems) SQ system with such kinda of power runing around??? Dont tell me you have one in your backyard.... :p

I've got 2 amps in the car atm and possibly, soon to be 3.

4 x 111wrms (going to bridge to 2 x 278)
1 x 657
2 x 97 wrms

So that's 1295 or 1407wrms (at full tilt). My car is privately owned, has no sponsorship and is definitely not a demo car (it's no where near the standard of demo cars i've seen). Hasn't even see a single competition because it aint done yet, even when it is done it probably wont even be going into any comps. My system for my listening pleasure, btw it's not a SPL system either. I'd say i'm running a "decent" amount of power, it might not be outrageously high but it's definitely a heck of a lot more powerful than the kenwood amp i had in my old car.

It's not in my backyard either, it's in the garage... lol
:p

okay guys looks like u were close to the ball...
i threw in a circuit breaker and now it does the job...
all i wanna know now is...
why the hell isnt it pumping hard as it used to before, it still shakes the mirrors n stuff but used to shake the next door neighbours cars at the lights too, what happened??
anyone rekkon the amps damagedd??

where are your gains set at on the amp?

Also, why did you go out to buy a circuit breaker? Also with what amperage?

Cause its depends what circuit breaker you bought but even still... most are unreliable, even big name brands [ie/ stinger] and may shut off without anything happening to it.

Hence the recommendation of an ANL style fuse, throughout this whole thread...

okay they officially suck
i shorted out the wires jus for the sake of it and it dussnt break
does this mean its fulty?
btw if uz wanted full details i shorted it with a screwdriver but 120A switch not switch ova
