Alright, currently my new civic has a 4 speaker system. And its not sounding too great. What can I do about it?
Does anyone know if you can fit 6 speakers in there? I see some what looks like speaker grills in the front corner of the dash. Anyones fitted speakers there?
Cheers.

In some markets, the front speakers are component systems and a tweeter fits in the receptacles at the base of the windscreen.
Depending on personal music taste, some owners have replace their front speakers with co-ax high efficiency speakers or component speakers. popular models being infinity, mb quart, kenwood and focal who make speakers with eff of 91db or better.
you can of course go the whole hog and replace the existing HU/speakers etc and spend the big bucks
For myself, I fitted the bass works speaker. my front sound stage is not bad at the moment though I', toying with fitting a focal component some time in the near future.

If you want decent sound, you need to get an Amp and good quality speakers such as Boston Accoustics and what gerard mentioned. avoid cr@p like Sony and the cheap Pioneer stuff. Most of the stuff they sell at Strathfield are no good.
If you dont want an Amp, then you can replace teh stock speakers with decent low wattage ones. If you run high wattage speakers off the head unit, they sound very tinny and you'll get almost no bass. The Jaycar speakers are good value if you are not willing to spend a lot.
instead of adding two speakers to get six total, spend the money on replacing the existing four speakers instead.

if you like the music then go the whole hog. i reckon you need to spend 2-4k on a system.

Shopping is also very easy - depends what one wants to buy. But favourite of people is MBK (Ma-Boon-Krong) where you can buy variety of things very inexpensively. There are many big shopping centres - latest and best is Paragon Centre.
If you have specifics - the hotels would tell you. I'm am sure there are 'areas' that specialises in car accessories

I think your nuts getting a new dash just to fit a stereo. it looks better factory standard and it hold the value better than getting a new dash.
get a Rockford Fosgate 360. this will clean up the factory signal and enable a lot of EQ and enable you to keep the dash looking good. i did it and looks and sounds great.

ive got a few things to put in mine... see it at autosalon brisbane 2007..... 5 subs... 20 speakers screens comming out its ass..... u will see
LOL i went to MBK when i was like.. in kindy (14 years ago man)... i remember the food court at the top and the department store there selling chocolate toothpaste.
Anyway, if you can, maybe head over to nearby Malaysia... lots of car stuff there too =]
Oh as for soudn system, I installed MBQ splits using the stock holes to install the tweeters. Not the most ideal sound stage but pretty decent cause it looks stock/doesn't draw attention. I did install an amp as well though to power them using alpine lineouts.

with standard HU, you have to use RCA converter.. cheap one prone to noise.. get a descent one..

yeah i don't want the standard HU, i want to put a double din screen in my car. i don't really care about keeping the vuale of the car and i pretty sure changing the facia won't do anything to it anyways. and if it does i'll just put the standard one back in.
anyways after market unit would be heaps better sound quality which is what im goin for.
i bought half my system already,
RF t5001 amp for my 2 JL w6
MB quartz running off RF t3001
still thinking about the HU casue i want to buy it after i get the facia kit.
