This is my first time posting up a subject, if I make any mistakes just correct me:)
Im running an RSM+VAFC2 and when I race or push the car, the RPM's are different from RSM to the VAFC2. The VAFC will be showing 8500 but the RSM will show 7900rpm. Both units were installed by specialists and VAFC2 was tuned and dynoed by specialists as well.
The RSM is the blue screen one, same style as the VAFC2. And its on an ITR DC2.
Sorry to drag it out but my question is, is it normal for that kind of variation between the RSM and the VAFC2? because im prety sure the rpm connections are the same, but tell a diff reading which is strange. And by the way, all the other reading such as Speed, Voltage, whatver are the same.

From experience, the difference between the reading from these 2 units are huge.. if they are hooked through the same wires, their reading should be within 50+/- RPM of each other in fact, mine is within 3 RPM of each other.. (Based on personal experience with RSM+SAFCii / RSM+VAFCii combo)

By the Way, when it showed 7900RPM on the RSM, what does your tacho show?

Only reason is that the tuner might have accidentally put in the wrong pulse reading in either units.. but don't quote me :)

The VAFC2 seems to be most accurate. The tacho reading is about 8800rpm and the VAFC2 is at about 8500rpm give or take 100rpm. I dont really look at the tacho, very rarely. Only I look at the VAFC2 and rsm since they save the highest rpm reading and you can reset it. I just shift when I feel there its flat and no power anymore which is around that rpm mark.

Mmmm.. then it might be the pulse reading on the RSM that is set wrongly..

Have a play with it in the Initialise mode.. the pulse setting is there.. play around with it and rev the car and see if the RPM variable closely matches the tacho in your car...

A friend of mine had MOTEC installed in his EG5 with B18C.. apparently his stock tacho was over 1,000RPM out to what the MOTEC was showing as RPM.. but looks cool when he takes it to 9,200RPM on the stock tach with 6,800 Redline HAHAHAHAHA

Sorry dont mean to hijack, but is there any reason why when Im using the dials display for the revs and throttle on my vafc, the revs after a while stops registering and I have to put back to number mode to get numbers to change? But the throttle still registers and measures?

Also, for the record, my vafc and revs on the tacho are within about 200rpm of eachother.....just by looking with eye....havnt done any testing as yet :)

Going to get an RSM in the future so I can let you know :)

Just go back to the place you got the VAFC tuned, they should fix everything up.

i got different voltage readings from different places (up to 0.4 volts at times)
rsm reading from ecu and apexi pen timer from ignition

so would urs be hooked in differest places
dunno if it helps
