Hey guys,

I searched but came up with jack.

Now can anyone tell me how good a D series crankshaft is,

I am using one in another car and want to know about inherent negative sides they have.

Pretty much I want to ask, can this crankshaft take major punsihment, assuming I will use the best of everything else in the motor ecu etc.

Thanks in advance guys:)

IMO - Don't risk it, and pay for something better.

Just use a late D series crank and get it prepared correctly for your power goals you dont need to waste money on a billet crank spend the money on sleeveing the block and buying a very good set of conrods.

i've seen on d-series alot of guys running up to 400hp on a stock crankshaft... what sought of output you plan on putting up?

The Crankshaft will not be going into a Honda motor or car,

It will actually line up well with 'my' 1.6 Block,

This is a mod I came across just recently,

I am aiming around the 400HP mark, I want to go full on out there with my new motor, I have purchased the box, so its next ecu, next motor.

So yeah, Thanks to Dyno Dave, youre a champ, dont worry, i'll be adding the best of everything to this motor.

I plan on running 13's in full street trim, which is a realistic figure for this car, in street trim ofcourse.

Don't know if every body knows about this site, but if you're building a 400Hp D16 you probably do.

anyways.....

http://www.turbod16.com/viewtopic.php?t=4140

Most high Hp builds have got rods, pistons and maybe sleeves.

400Hp on a D16 means a power band 5500 - 7500rpm and not much anywhere else.

Still 400Hp is 400Hp and driving a Honda means using high revs anyway.

Some of the more notable builds
T3/T04E 57 trim .63 a/r, D16Y8, Eagle rods, Vitara pistons, Zex 59300 cam,
stock head,valvetrain, Skunk2 IM, 60mm TB.
442whp/323tq @ 28psi on a Mustang dyno.
11.378 @ 130.37 mph on 28psi(older 390whp tune/setup). 1.824 60 ft. on 205/55-14 Nitto DR's.

Where have you seen Suzuki guys stroke anything LOL,

No seriously, stroking is as dead as anything, no one has even mentioned it in any other forum I have visited.

Yeha, Honda D16 crank, shotpeened and balanced then with the magic cryogenic enhancement for extra rice factor, then ill pop it in and forget- Hoorah!

Atleast the crank is easy- now finding the right sleeves, rings, pistons etc etc...

just need to find my 4th job now...

..

LoL. The word on the street is that they stroke each other??!! LoL;)

I saw one NZ, it was a suzuki cultus (4wd 1.3L power house lol) and it had a vitara block and honda crank and girdle. It was an NA rally car that was surpose to go good.

Yeah, thats a nice ride- all rotors are good quality rides IMO.

If I had more money I would build a mad 5 and a 6 series RX7

most 2 series are ghey IMO but the 5 & 6 are red hot.

Sorry, correction.

It's all outlined in wikipedia -

"When employing forced induction on a D16, at a minimum the stock hypereutectic pistons should be replaced as well as the connecting rods if the commonly used "stock parts" limit of 220 HP is to be exceeded, although it should be noted that the D series crankshaft in particular has been found to reliably handle up to 600 HP."

can i ask who the f88ck pushes a dseries to 600HP.

Insane.

I love honda motors but nver bought one, mmm shame, might buy the new civic type R as my finacne for the R didnt pan out.

Yeah 600's insane huh, only quoting whats on the site :). Type R's are choice.

On the topic of rods only handling 220HP, I heard forged Eagle rods (American) have clearance issues with the bottom of the cylinders on Aussie d16 blocks!?! What rods do you use on a boosted d16 then if ya cant afford custom? Or is this issue a myth??

yes they fit. You just have to notch the the bock and girdle with eagles.
