Just wondering if anyone has had any problems when they go to a drive in movie and 'tune in' to the certain frequency to listen to the movie and that drain their battery? Just wondering if the sub an amp effect my car enough to stop it from starting when the movie is over?
Is the solution to start the car every now and then?
Cheers,

hello buddy,
i work at the drive in movies in dandenong..
honestly 95% of cars are fine watching a 2 hour movie. But like i tell many customers if u are really concerned about it, just start your engine after 30min or so.

It all dependson how much power you're amps have as well as how loud you'll be turning it up.
I leave my system on (have 2 amp atm) for about 30mintes when i'm cleaning the car, I start the engine up after that just in case but with that being said I don't have any troubles starting it after 30minutes.
Another thing is also you're battery, some batteries have larger storage capacity than other and take longer to drain out. I'm still on a standard battery as well.

my problem with drive in movies is that:
- it was a hot humid summer night
- Parked at the front and battery died
- Walking all the way from the front to the back to borrow the charger...
- THE AIR SMELLED LIKE PUSSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE ENTIRE WAY!!!!

First time I went to Coburg drive in... ticket includes 2 movies, had no problems starting the car after..
Only stupid thing I did was when I drove to the other movie in the other lot, I forgot to change the FM frequency, for 10 mins I was listening to the wrong channel and I thought there was something wrong with the audio!

Doesnt your car only charge the battery once the engine goes past a certain RPM, say 2k. The rest of the time using the power its generating to run the sparks and anything else in your car.

^^no if anything its the other way around... voltage regulator limits charging from revs past ~2,500rpm.
but t does take a while to fully charge a battery from idle... i remember my old 370cca taking 1.5hrs to fully charge
