Hi,
Took the civic 02 sedan to get a wheel alignment earlier because my left front tyre was wearing noticeably faster than the others.
The mechanic advised that I needed a 'camber pin' for my left front, and was of the opinion that all cars should have this. I was wondering why mine didn't if it was a vital part in order to proceed with the wheel alignment.
The installation of the camber pin will cost $100, and wheel alignment for all four tyres a further $50. This process would take about 2 hours.
Any advice of help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

They are an elongated (spelling) bolt. They allow you to get alot more adjustment than standard. suspension sag or accident damage can cause the negitive camber. hope i helped

Thanks for the reply.
The mechanic showed me the "reading" was currently -0.02 on the left front and mentioned how it was supposed to be -0.30 or something like that. Does what the mechanic suggest sound reasonable.
Is it essentially that I install a camber pin to proceed with the wheel alignment?

so the tyre is wearing on the inside edge quicker then the outside? that should be a pretty good camber reading are you sure you tyres are pumped up to the recomanded psi?

I think you got your readings around the wrong way. Its not so much the camber alone causing the tyre wear but the toe would of been out also. i would spend the money and get them, It works out alot cheaper than tyres, also as above what tyre pressures do you run?

The wear on the outside is quicker.
The recommended psi on the side panel is 28. I normally have my tyres at about 30-32psi.

camber pin cost around $35 and installation is surprisingly easy.. I did it myself in less than half an hour on my ES.. took it for a wheel alignment afterwards of course..
If you want, try loosening the three strut bolts on your left strut and push it as far as you can to the right (pointing to the other strut top) and redo the bolts.. that should give you about 0.1-0.2 deg negative camber
