hey guys,

ive always had that question in my head about .. if i chucked on a turbo .. and that particular turbo had quiet a turbo lag, and say, VTEC kicked in and turbo lag kicked in right after VTEC .. LOL, what happens ? does it do ne thing to my engine or ne thing .. ? would it maybe .. wear my engine alot faster etc etc ?

if your boost is kickin in after 5500, it's pointless.
cars making 300kw atw, doesn't even reach full boost that late.
and you'd practically have to rebuild your motor, inorder to handle that kind of boost level.
yes wear your motor out alot faster, and most probably break alot of things. lol.

oh i see, so there really is no point of chuckin in a turbo then ?
i was planning to make my vtir a showcar with maybe a lil bit of unique power, n coz there rnt much turbod integra out here in melbourne, i thought, what if i chucked in a turbo .. what are the downfalls etc etc

ain't this in the wrong section?

but anyway...
turbo it !!!!
your going to have a pretty big turbo to have that much lag, pretty much useless.

there's more turbo hondas in melb then u think, just alot of them don't have visible intercoolers.

your turbo will start spooling up first then will hit full boost then ur vtec kicks in then it will rev up even faster.

a turbo amplifies an engines powerband.

for my car .. since is a SOHC .. my vtec kicks in early .. arround 2500 ish ..
and for my set up
Vtec kick in first b4 the turbo does ..
so like .. my vtec open at 2500 and turbo full boost on 3000 ish arround there some where LOL..
means i have anther 3000 more rev to have fun with the boost
thats why .. small turbo always the best :p

depends on ur goal.. are you chasing HP or accel?
Hp= big tubro but very sometimes laggy
Accel= small turbo is enough .. unless .. big turbo with quick spool ($$$$)

Hope that helps .. :)

Heck, you want massive lag and uber power? T88 or T51R Kai or SPL, VTAK + MASSIVE BOOST = Supra Immitation lol...

Get a smaller turbo so that you get boost and achieve full boost slightly before hitting VTAK and then let VTAK get you the rest of the way over the line :D I think thats the best setup lol

LOL ... i wouldn think you cant feel the vtec open when the turbo already in full boost any way :p

vtec opens mean more air also means more fuel ...
so if early vtec opens .. that prevents the car from running lean .. which protect it from a detonations ...

so vtec open earlier is i think better than the ends .. but .. in not something that are not achive able :)

Well its common sense that old school VTEC is used to give you power in the high revs, so lowering the VTEC crossover point with simply stuff it up, the low end camlobes are designed to give you torque which is where you need it lol. All common sense...

the more air, blahblahblah, detonation bit and SOHC having such a low rpm for VTEC engagement (unless its been tampered with)

u got rolled by google mate...lol..

to create huge lag ud need a massive turbo and thats pointless, get it like 040501912 said just put a small turbo in so it kicks in at around 3000rpm and ull be cheering, even if its only like 5 PSI

hahah yeah .. i think i might just head off with a small turbo

don't get a small turbo just for quick spool, you gotta get one that spools nice and quick but is able to give you the power band you want till red line

lols well yeeah .. if im gonna get a turbo .. i wanna get, the best one i can get for its size so like .. minimum lag .. maximum power .. etc etc list goes on haha

t25 or t28 sized turbo should be sufficient. and take not with how much horsepower its capable of supporting plus the a/r crap n stuff.

You have a VTIR man. Dont go for these little crappy turbos. Typically, get a turbo rated at 400+ hp, GT, Ball bearing. You'll be happy as larry.
