I have a B16A motor with some miles on it. Recently, the motor could not start up properly while it's at operating temp.. The motor would life up for less than a second and dies off. Crank it again immediately, it just would not fire up. I have to completely turn off the key, wait for 10 secs or more and try firing up. Sometimes i have to repeat the whole process a few times to successfully keep the motor running.

I was told it's a commmon problem for an aging b-series motor and i need a brand new distributor unit. Instead, I went to a wrecker ang purchased a used ignition coil and an ignitor. After replacement, the same problem still exists. Very frustrating...

Anyone has any experience with this??

look at the main relay.
It controls fuel and ignition - it gets old and as it heats up , it can stopp the connection and not work.
Its located under the dash , on the drivers side.

check this DIY thread for more info

could also be the ignition switch.

you shoulc check the ECU for fault codes,

what year car do you have ???

B series Dizzy's are common to failure, but not in the way you describe. they tend to get noisy as the bearing fails and then the engine light comes on as the sensors inside get damaged from the failed bearing. or the ICM or coil fail.

thanks for info guys,

I have a '93 EG with stock dizzy setup. There are no ECU fault codes. Dizzy is a bit noisy though.

Once it's start driving, it will not stall. Engine stalls only right after IGN. Anyways, im gonna check the relay tonight...

yup was going to say main relay.

dizzy failures are only common once a bearing or shaft fails, OR the ignitor/coil, but ignitor or coils usually give tell tales as ecu-man has outlined via weak spark etc
