Saw an apparent real Type S pop up for sale in Melbourne on Firesport.

http://firesport.ipspace.com/?section=item&action=show&id=103762

Seems genuine...but appart from Type-S badges and fog lights etc, is there a special engine number or anything to go buy.

I think it would be easy to fake a type s...

thats a genuine type s right there! RARE AS ROCKING HOSRE S..T! it has the type s grill all the goodies... even dc5R wheels!
that would mean it's got 230hp standard! better than a ITR?

yeah it could be true as you cant put the dc5R wheels on the atts vti-r.. won fit the stud size

It only comes with Type S front lip (which it has) not the whole kit standard.

dcr5 wheels fit perfect on 5th gen lude... as mention above 5x144.3 offset 55+

Need more pictures then just the front to say weather its real or not... need a rear end shot to see if it has a rear wiper (imported lude have them standard).

redliner: i thought the pcd size for dc5r is 5 x 100?

But based on this website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Prelude
unlike the other 5th gen, the type S is the only one who has no sunroof..
so it could be a real type S :)

I found this interesting website for anyone who wants to convert your prelude to become a type S lude ;)

theres many factors u gotta look into to know if it's a type S or not.

Type S have a different interior look. Plus the prelude also have an SiR version with the LSD as well which is very similar in looks.

What about the intake? The Type S intake is different from the SiR and also the Vti-R ATTS also.

And apparently the real Type S from Japan doesnt have sunroof.

well the bumper is not AUDM thats for sure look at the rear bumper its one whole piece not 2 like the AUDM ones which have the bumper + plate part.

Yep you can put euro plates in the AUDM but not in the Type S, besides the red stitch in the leather seat is a proof that it's a genuine Type S. Also seems from the cluster the Type S only is up to 180km/h while the AUDM version is up to 220km/h? Have a look on a Type S from nz below:

maybe he confused with celica 5x100

pretty sure thats a type S now tho , from the pics. price is bit steep, but i'd definately pay a lil more than a regular 5th gen vtir.

I suppose it is very rare and would be hard to put a price on considering.
Im sure to someone who is really looking for one it would seem a bargain.
You see some ridiculas prices for VTIR 5th gens though even with heaps of kms
