so im thinking of importing the brembos which come on the jdm model. I understand ill need 17" wheels which is not a problem. will ialso need the rotors and extra bits as well?

youll need quite a few parts off the JDM dc5r.
LCA's, driveshafts, knuckles, rotors and sway bar.
for the wheels you also need a higher offset aswell as bigger (tho some 16's can fit). you will need wheels roughly between +50 and +60 offset (JDM DC5R wheels are +60)

Yeh im aware of the wheels, i wasnt sure of the rest of the assembly. i think it could be worth it though for the brakes, much better brakes than the aussie ones and i could get it a lot cheaper than most other systems!

The wheels im looking at getting are some super lightweight volk wheels (cant remember which model) but yeah.

there are a lot of options other than the JDM brembos, that wouldnt require changing of the suspension components, alcon, endless, projectMu etc. perhaps do some research into such brands, and you may save some money or be able to put it into an even better/bigger set of brakes.

the higher the positive offset of the rim... the more it tucks into the guards... you would want a smaller positive offset if aftermarket callipers are to be used.. in saying that though, the OEM JDM 17" rims do fit perfectly due it its design

^^^ i am well of how offsets change things, what your saying it tru for a regular audm dc5r when installing something that doesnt require changing of the LCA's etc.
the JDM suspension however (which is what the thread starter is talking about) is effectively 15mm wider each side which is why they have the higher offset rims. this is all needed because of the brembos among other things.
if you put all the jdm suspension on an AUDM car you will need a higher offset rim than normal to bring them back to the right place.
